I don't think anyone answered my question yesterday (sorry If I missed it)

I have The Great Beauty in my order, will everything ship together once it is released at the end of March or will I get 2 separate parcels. Bear in mind I am shipping to Canada.

No shipping/tracking email for me as of yet, but fingers are crossed. Surprised that they are getting to this so quickly, I'm guessing it'll take a few days to get everyone's orders shipped. Wonder if they will be working overtime to get boxes packed and ready to ship?

And if you are reading.... thanks again Criterion! It was fun!

want to give a shout out to 2 under-appreciated films that I really enjoyed.

Leon Morin, Priest is a fantastic movie. I feel that people aren't drawn to this title, maybe because the idea of a film dealing with Catholicism isn't too appealing. While there is a little bit of god-speak, the film is more about life in Nazi-occupied France during WWII and about repressed sexual feelings. To give credit, Gary Indiana discusses this in the booklet for the film. I mention it here because he could not be more right. It may not be a crime picture (what Melville is know for, of course,) but it does feel like a Melville film. It is really well acted, too. I ranked it as my 5th favorite of the 41 Criterion titles I've seen since I've been a forum member.

The Criterion connection for my other shout out is Montgomery Clift (Red River) and Lee Remick (Anatomy of a Murder)... they appeared together in the wonderful Wild River. It would be a stretch to call this movie a masterpiece, but I can certainly say that I loved it! Great performances is what Elia Kazan directed films are known for and Jo Van Fleet absolutely kills it. Monty Clift is cool (no surprise) even with this film being shot at a time when his life was veering out of control. Kenyon Hopkins' score is perfect; it is melancholy, but never melodramatic. (He also provided the score for 12 Angry Men - another Criterion connection.) And last but certainly not least... The color cinematography is gorgeous. The 20th Century Fox blu-ray transfer is superb and this might be the best looking color classic film that I've seen on blu-ray. This was the best $8 I've spent on a blu-ray. When Fox Connect does their next flash sale, I HIGHLY recommend picking this one up!

These films are both outstanding.

Leon Morin, Priest took a couple of viewings to grow on me, because it's so different from Melville's other fare, but I now hold it in high esteem along with the other films. I love how this movie sheds light on a different angle of the French Resistance during World War II, and, for this reason, it makes a fine companion to Le Silence de la Mer and Army of Shadows.

Wild River is a spectacular-looking color film in high definition. ...and not just because we see Lee Remick in color.

Yeah, I noticed they changed the est. shipping time to "ships within three business days" right before the sale.

Got in just before the deadline. Ordered the Ingrid Bergman collection and The Bad Sleep Well. Slowly I'm getting there.

Thanks bwdowiak and Owl, I'll have to check both of these out. I love Lee Remick, and Montgomery Clift, so I'll definitely check out Wild River.

Yeah, I figured they'd have to change that.. I can't imagine the number of orders they had..... the sheer volume of what they have to process I'm sure is just insane.

This is giving me the urge to watch it again soon. Even at nearly 5 hours long it moves very well and is so much better than the new musical version. I'll have to be satisfied with my Eclipse Series DVD for now.

We can get an idea of the number of orders if someone that made a very late order posts its order number.(assuming they are given in order)

mine was: 5863XX and ordered in the first 15 mintues

Got a shipping email for the first order but not the second even though my account on Criterion's page shows that they are both completed and I have no open orders. I can't wait to watch these six films again as it has been over a decade since I have seen them.
