Managed to place an order fairly early into the sale to successfully score the titles I was after.

Went with the following,

The Grand Budapest Hotel
The Elephant Man
War of the Worlds
Taste of Cherry
Come and See
The Cremator

Side-Note: Has anyone here ever experienced a defective disc?? What would happen if it was defective?
I’d love Last Summer but I’ve only heard bad news regarding a decent print of the original cut. I’ve still got my ancient VHS of it and a burnt dvd from a TCM broadcast. The TCM was full frame and the edited ending was really bad. I was particularly saddened to read about Catherine Burns death last year.

I put in three orders: two in the first five minutes of the sale and one this morning nothing has shipped. They are big items though but I thought the smaller order of 4 titles would have at least gone out. Oh well

One of my three orders has shipped (the first). I assume the others will too in good time.

Now, if only Scream Factory would follow suit. Would have loved to have gotten my horror order in time for Halloween, but I'll be lucky to get it by Christmas.

I ordered 2 titles from them and they were shipped on 9/21. I got them today 10/21. I loathe Media Mail.

My orders from both Criterion and B&N are usually processed pretty fast and they’re on average delivered within a week.

Not a complaint, since I'm not in a hurry at all to get the discs, but I do find it strange that both Criterion and Kino don't ship orders based on a first come, first served basis. I placed my first order 2 minutes after the sale went live. All items were in stock. I then placed another order about 10 minutes later. The first order (which included 3 now out of stock titles which were in stock at the time of my order) has not shipped and I'm assuming won't until the back ordered titles are back in. The second has shipped.

My experience with the flash sales is that orders are not shipped by order number. I usually get an order in within the first minute of the sale (this sale I had 2 within the first 5 minutes) and they have taken a couple of days to ship.

Getting your order in early merely increases your odds of snagging an item before it goes “Out of Stock”.

Yeah, I'm not sure I understand the logic behind it, but I'm sure they have their reasons. I would only be upset if it were an item that had gone out of print rather than temporarily out of stock.

My order has been in packing for shipment for about 2 or 3 days now. So, I'm not sure what to expect. If that means they have all my stuff or only some of it.

I had elephant man in my cart all day and was in stock, didn’t complete my order till later and by then elephant man was back ordered. It was still in my cart tho so added two more and completed the order. I got a order confirmation, will see if it actually ships tho, any chance they cancel it? Or just send me the two that we’re still in stock?

I always wonder if people are in such a hurry to get their movies from a sale how they ever had the patience to wait for them to go on sale.

And are the impatient collectors who post here really so starved for something to watch while they have to endure this traumatizing wait?

Personally, I've got a big Zoom call tomorrow and I wanted to show off my haul on camera. I don't actually watch the films I buy, but goddamn it's sweet to have a shelf full of Criterions behind you to let people know you could possibly be a guy who enjoys arthouse and foreign cinema. Also, leaves a big question mark with the ladies like, "Is he an arthouse guy?" Sure, sometimes you have pitfalls like when you pronounce "L'Argent" like the last name of the former Seattle Seahawks receiver Steve Largent, but having a showpiece Criterion shelf is a great way to lend yourself some fake intellectual heft.

Also, who could complain when shipping is free? (I assume most orders placed exceed the $50 threshold).
