Well spent money Punisher! That is one of my absolute favorite home video releases of all time. 16 Days of Glory is highly recommended.

I myself bought Working Girls today. I've always been interested in how prostitution is portrayed in films.

I placed an order with Amazon, with 50% off, getting three that are on my list to buy. But I'm not going to list them here. I mean, who cares? Why fill up pages and pages of the forum with lists and pictures of movies purchased?

Movies are my hobby too. But the last thing I want to do is waste time scrolling through pages and pages of lists and photos of new purchases trying to catch the one or two posts on updates and other relevant Criterion info.

I know I’m like 3 years late but I finally ordered the Bergman set and can’t wait to dive in. I never pulled the trigger before because I already have essentials like Persona, Cries and Whispers, The Seventh Seal, Wild Strawberries, Autumn Sonata, The Virgin Spring

Excited to finally see some I’ve never seen yet like Summer with Monika, Smiles of a Summer Night, Through a Glass Darkly, The Silence, Hour of the Wolf, and Fanny and Alexander to name a few

Ah, yes, because scrolling through pages and pages of "I bought X movies but I'm not telling any of you what they are" would be much better.

What a terrible take on a bluray forum, honestly.

Why post about placing an order if you don't want to clog up the thread with irrelevant info?

My post was supposed to be taken as tongue in cheek.

And for those who are interested, I bought the following:

I've seen all of them before. I generally won't buy any Criterion titles unless I've seen them. Actually, I have that rule of thumb for any movies. I have hundreds of movies I may never watch again. Heck, I've got about a hundred that I've never gotten around to watch, such as Disney movies I got at great prices during Christmas. Oh well. At least they look nice in the collection.

Watched Docks Of New York from the Von Sternberg silents set last night. Loved it!

It was an impulse purchase at the end of the summer sale last year and, like the majority of Criterions I own, I figured it would sit on the shelf many, many years before I ever got around to it - if ever. Plenty of purchases I've made are things I want to like or want my collection associated with- but that never end up feeling like a compelling choice to watch on any given night.

I was a much more adventurous viewer/film buff 30-35 years ago. Now I mostly just want easy comfort food.

Something about this director though, consistently rubs me the right way.
I polished off the Dietrich set bizarrely quick (for me) and loved it. Now I'm very much looking forward to the other two in this one.

I went light on this years sale, but I've got 12 years of backlog to still work through anyway. Hoping there will be a few more unexpected (to me) gems tucked in there like this set was.

Nice one. I picked up the Total Recall poster yesterday. Quite nerve-wracking placing an order with them as most releases sell out in under a minute.

Nice! I've contemplated getting the Dietrich & Von Sternberg set for a little while and for similar reasons.

Dietrich & von Sternberg

#1 it's a pretty good deal when one of these sales is on and when watching the Criterion trailer for it, there's just the unique atmosphere that's generated between them in these films. "Comfort Food" is certainly one good way to put it. Easy on the eyes no doubt. I think films like these are obviously important given their historical significance and what they respectfully accomplished in their time. Even though many people today aren't able to watch these films and easily identify with how things worked in that time/era, I still like to think on a fundamental level they should resonate. I also find them to be a very pleasant palate cleanser between the more modern or "adventurous" films.

The Last Command is Von Sternberg's best film, period, in my opinion.
