![]() ![]() Lol, just joking. ![]() I am actually with you on this, many people in this forum seem to be very compulsive when it comes to many things. (including best movies ever). Anyways, I dont try to convince them otherwise anymore as its useless, and I would advice you to do the same. ![]() |

I'd argue that you are the "hater", as you are fabricating this hypothetical situation and, in doing so, implicitly accusing people who like Inception of only following the current popular trends. I feel that is just as insulting as the supposed "hating" you claim to have experienced. Having a discussion about the qualities of a movie is one thing. Putting words in people's mouths and trying to pass judgment on what you imagine their motivations for liking movies is, is an entirely different matter. Guess which one happens more often than not in this thread... |

I can confirm that this BD player works, I've had one since Black Friday and it has played every disc I've thrown at it.

This is how you change the regions: Turn the player on. With the tray closed and no disc inside, press the "Home/Setup" button on the remote control. Enter "9 1 1 3" on the remote. If you did this correctly, a new selection appears on the menu: "Configure Player". Scroll to it and press enter. A menu pops up that lets you select the DVD region and BD region. As far as I know, there's no limit on how many times you can do this. However, when the player is turned off, it reverts to "region 1 / region A" status and you will need to put in the code again each time you turn on the player (provided you want to watch a DVD/BD from a different region). Very much considering jumping on this. I love my PS3 for gaming/blu-ray but I would love to be able to import films.

I managed to finish watching Peeping Tom (region B Blu-ray) tonight on the Insignia player. Very interesting film -- I can see why people at the time found it disturbing. It can still be unsettling if you stop and think about it. I wonder if this new transfer will see a region A release. It kind of sucks that Studio Canal took this title from Criterion and then only released a region B locked BD (for now).
In other news, looks like the light engine in my Hitachi RPTV is going...again. I have a red glow on the right side of my screen. |

Very impressed with the BBS set so far.
I've been going in spine order. Head, Easy Rider, Five Easy Pieces--- very pleased with the AQ/PQ so far. I'll probably go through this set twice before moving on to more films. ![]() [Show spoiler]

I've got a Panny BD-55 that I use for all region A/region 1 discs. Since I have a lower end receiver, I can't pass audio over an HDMI connection, so I've got the 5.1/7.1 analog out of the player and into my Yamaha receiver. I've got a Momitsu 799 that I use only for region B. The only downside is that the best I can do audio-wise is DD 5.1, which still sounds pretty good. Most of what I've bought from the UK has been older films, so audio is not going to be an issue. You get used to inputting the code(s)...the one advantage of the Momitsu/Sherwood players is that you only have to input the code with the player turned on and you're ready to go. The Insignia has you going through a few menus, before getting the job done. BUT...it's a bit more than $100 cheaper that the Momitsu and if you don't play import BDs too often (like me), it's not that big of a deal. |
