Already have the Eureka, but is there anything new or improved with the Criterion releases of Eastern Condors? Meanwhile, will be getting 8 1/2.

NM, I went ahead and grabbed Eastern Condors. I will get 8 1/2 during the Feb-March flash sale.

I stuck to saying positive things about the Coen Bros.

Still holding out for Buster Scruggs and The Man Who Wasn't There, sigh.

Buster Scruggs just made me feel bad. Ugh. I can appreciate it for what it is, but I don't think I want to put myself through that again!

I enjoy many movies that are dark and depressing though. I can watch things that are bleak. So I'm not sure why Buster Scruggs in particular really got to me like it did.

Remember when Criterion was refusing to get into the 4K market? Now they're probably regretting not getting into it sooner.

Neat lineup this month, but a little too contemporary for my tastes.

I'm still holding out hope for more Harold Lloyd, or at least Golden Era titles. Perhaps The Talk of the Town (1942) with Cary Grant?

For the record, there was a Lloyd title released in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2019... and... well, still waiting for more.

Very interesting to see all this excitement about a usually boring release month. I am excited about the 8 1/2 upgrade to 4k. It was one of my earliest revelatory Criterion films.
A new restoration was sorely needed.

I was told they are still waiting on the director to be involved.

What a day! Not only did I win the site giveaway, my favorite film of all time, Paris, Texas, gets a 4K release with Dolby Vision grading. They also kept the original cover art that I love. Hopefully the booklet art will remain as well. Add in No Country for Old Men (another favorite of mine) and 8 1/2, and this day keeps getting better. I better go do the lottery now..

I had no idea that the longer cut of Napoleon was already out. Almost everyone is saying it's a much better film now, similar to what happened with Kingdom of Heaven. I feel like a Criterion release would be amazing, but who knows what the chances are for that happening.

It's certainly a nice improvement.

Agreed. I wonder if they have any plans to upgrade Miller's Crossing, for example.

Definitely would love more Harold Lloyd. Of the "big three" (Chaplin, Lloyd, Keaton), I definitely feel like Lloyd has been more.. forgotten.

I'm really holding out some more hope to see more Astaire/Rogers be released as well from CC. I love Swing Time, but I don't think it's their best one. There's the Japanese import, but it's expensive-ish and supposedly the DVDs are better at points.

I haven’t watched the theatrical cut, but other than the look and the astonishing battle scenes, I found it fairly interminable and unlikable with a big black hole in the center of it. I had high hopes, but it kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

I'll be buying it for the 4th time. I bought it on DVD, then BD, then in the Fellini set, and now 4K.

Totally worth it!

There was a time where I actually thought I’d be able to fully upgrade my Lloyd DVD collection and now. . . I’m not holding my breath on that.

Glad I waited and had faith in CC for Paris, Texas in 4K sooner rather than later. A day one for sure. Nice to see, but hard to buy 8 1/2 4K when you have the Fellini set. Really don't want to play the upgrade game with titles from the set. No Country is nice to see and I will get that on sale some time. I will also take a chance on the Hung film for sure. Always lots of fun. Not a huge month, but a nice month all around.

Paris, Texas is a no-brainer, as I got to see the new 4K restoration nearly 2 weeks ago, and it is seriously gorgeous.

8 1/2 is one of my favorite films, and I adore No Country for Old Men, so I could not be more excited for these two on 4K, as well. One hell of an amazing month!
