That’s arguably my favorite Kurosawa film so I hope whomever does it gives it the ultimate treatment it deserves.

It's also one of my favorites and the one Kurosawa I really want on Blu-ray. Hopefully a Criterion release isn't too far out.

As BFI is releasing what so far looks like the definitive version of THE SEVEN SAMURAI 4k, if they are first with BAD SLEEP on Blu, I'm there.

Yeah, that's a big no no in my book since I don't import. Even if they released the end all release of end all releases, I'd still buy the Criterion. Problem is Criterion is on the wacky dacky pills these days and have other labels running circles around them IMO with getting the films released first.

Duke I’m not like you if someone else releases something else first on Blu-Ray that was on my wishlist I sometimes don’t wait for a US label to release it as there’s a number of imports I have that still don’t have Blu-Rays, or 4Ks in the States yet. Since BFI is releasing Stray Dog on Blu-Ray first then I don’t have to wait on the Criterion version as it’ll probably come out in February, and since I don’t want to wait till February to watch it I’m getting the BFI release first. It helps to have two Blu-Ray players like me. I’m probably buying a region free Blu-Ray player next year as I don’t want to keep switching back and forth between the Blu-Ray players over and over again.

I'm really surprised to hear this as there seem to be a lot of titles released in other places that you would find desirable. I'm sure you've heard all the persuasive arguments for going region free and picking up import titles so I won't belabor that and lecture you, but at some point I hope you will embark on that brave new world and start exploring the joys of no border Blus!

Q: not going to ebay with these, maybe try to sell 'em on local net auction. But anyways, what would be going prices of Woo's The Killer and Hard Boiled. Later one still factory wrapped.

(I know I'm going to get max. 33% of going prices, hard to sell rarer movies here in scandinavia and shipping to elsewhere is so very expensive)

Thanks !

Can we please not have another thread devolve into an argument/discussion about the pro and cons of importing. It'll just end up at the same point that all the other ones have.

Criterion

The Seven Samurai UHD arrived later this afternoon direct from Criterion. Not much of a surprise with the packaging (I've always liked this type of digipack. The editions for movies like Seven Samurai and Battle of Algiers feel 'premium' to me). The digipack is a bit bigger than the blu-ray digipack. Glad to have this movie on UHD and will set aside a few hours to dig in!

UHD combo on the bottom. Blu-ray release on top.

Hey, I finally got a discount gift card that worked and I had a $5.00 points credit in my account at B&N so I was able to treat myself to the following:

Breakdown prices are approx. $22.00 per disc, but that includes three 4Ks and five movies! Merry (early) Christmas to me!

Criterion would rather release 6 movies over the course of four years than just make a great themed box set and have it out in one day.

Hell yeah! It should be about why Criterion isn't releasing the film I want!
