Army of Shadows is in fact next week, and Shock Corridor comes out on the 18th. At least according to this site

That is a great set, but my wife was going to buy that for me years ago upon release and saw the issues on Amazon's site. On my b-day, she told me why she didn't get it and I was glad.

I do believe, however, that some of the issues were fixed as some reviewers indicated receiving copies that were fine, but I think there's no way to tell if what we're buying is going to be full of defective discs or not.

Thanks for the rec. though...that is an insane price!!

Chungking must be going OOP. Doesn't make sense that copies dry up at every online retailer at once.

When films go OOP often the copies are sent back to the distributor. . .

I was able to get "The Bridge on the River Kwai" from B & N for about $15 (tax included), but haven't opened it yet.

The reviews were pretty good, but it is said that PQ varies.

Any feedback from you guys? Thanks!
I think it's great..... very solid release, and one I'm glad to own.

Thanks greek!

I have no doubt that it was a good purchase...will probably crack it open this coming weekend. Got a Bergman coming today on NetFlix.

No problem. Celebrating the future release of Wild Strawberries?

Since I got up early today, and being on vacation from college with nothing better to do, I think I'm gonna pop in Revanche for the millionth time.

Default Restored M (1931) coming March 2011 in Germany

Check out the newly restored, 80th Anniversary Edition of Fritz Lang's M that Germany will get in March, supposedly Region ABC with English subs for the film and the extensive extras! I will gladly triple-dip if this is truly what they get!

Credit for this post goes to djvaso.

Apparently not. I believe that was their DVD master anyway, so you're talking about a source from 2003-2004 (which I think was also used by MoC) compared to one from 2010-2011...

Fortunately, "Wild Strawberries" is streamable on NetFlix...can't wait to see what this is going to look like on blu.

Got "The Silence" coming today. I've already seen the other (2) films in this Bergman "trilogy". SOMEONE from this forum thread has been infecting me with Bergman's syndrome!

Got a good feeling that most/all of the Bergman titles that CC have released on DVD will make their way to blu.

Revanche, hmmmm....

I consider Playtime to be quite a bore, but my wife bought it for me anyway. You may like it, it's an "acquired" taste.

Hmmm. I'm definitely going to watch a Criterion for my birthday today, but I can't figure out which one. Revanche is probably out (love it, but not very birthday-like)

Yeah, I've heard of that. I do know that Costco had a sale for $21.99 for this set last Summer or so. And a few friends who did purchase said they were working perfectly and they checked all discs. So, maybe they fixed the problem? I figured $19.99 is very good for this set and 20th Century Fox has pretty good customer service and return policy if there is a problem.

Ditto, but regardless of QC issues this set is still great value for only $19.99. I'll have to seriously think about this. Thanks kndy!

I have heard quite a few horror stories about this set from friends though. I know they're certainly not reliable, but just read some of the amazon.com reviews for this set. It's frightening!

You won't be sorry...it's a great package. I just wonder how much of a difference there is between the CC blu and the BFI blu?

I own the CC version, but have heard heated debate about the superior transfer of the BFI version.

The same thing applies to the latest news about "M". I've got the CC version as well, but wonder how much of a difference in quality there is between it and the MoC version?

I've got a region free player, but can't spend money like water, based on what I've heard so far. And I know that MoC spares no expense, to give us their level best.

Maybe Pro-B can give us his insight on both of these releases?

Yeah, I've heard about these constant debates. I don't know. Being a Blu-ray Criterion collector, I feel weird buying a movie from another company, mostly because I just love Criterion, and I know they give us the top quality in releases. I've even contemplated getting rid of my non-Criterion versions, like The Third Man with StudioCanal, because they weren't Criterion. I know I'll be pleased with The Leopard, though. Pro-B gave the Criterion a 5 across the board, so I would think he would recommend it over the BFI version, but only he knows.

I'm not even sure what constitutes a player from being Region free, so I don't even know what I got, so I'll just settle with Region A's for know, I suppose.
