Sweet Smell of Success is down to $24.99

The number of "Day-1" Criterion titles Amazon has been having for $24.99 is a very pleasant change!
Yeah, they're not exactly price matching the B&N sales but they're definitely undercutting that 'eh, I'll get it in June' mindset.

I hear the film that comes with the Breathless packaging is excellent.

KINO's slip cover is superb.

I didn't realize the release date was upon us.....

I just checked, and sure enough Amarcord and Still Walking are due to arrive tomorrow..... Same day as King Kong (1933) A Star is Born, A River Runs Through It, and Mutiny on the Bounty......

I better hope I see that package before my wife does

I don't collect those..... I just buy the movies I enjoy that are digibooks..... and typically wait for sales etc because I won't spend $25 on a guilty pleasure like "Falling Down" I had a coupon code and groupon thing for B&N and $140 of credit with Amazon, so I thought I'd jump on some titles I've waited too long on! Movies in Digibooks like "Se7en" won't be bought unless it's about $10 which I'm guessing won't happen......

LOL!
you'll love all those other films which I'm sure you've seen before.
those bd versions are really nice for sure.
collecting all the Criterion and digibook releases definitely makes for a good intro film collection on bd.
I was just organizing earlier and couldn't quite believe I have all these films on blu-ray.
They look so amazing all lined up on the shelf.

I hear ya...the selection is pretty strong for movies which are offered in the Digibook packaging. I really like the look of The Color Purple book, but have no interest in purchasing the movie. So I won't.

Now Se7en, on the other hand, is one of my favorite movies from the 90's!

Either way...enjoy your "films"!!

aw, man! that sucks! sorry to hear that
what type of packaging did it come in? the one time i ordered from them it was one blu-ray and it came in a bit bigger cardboard envelope thing. the exact same thing that amazon ships 2 or 3 blus in.

of course you can get it returned / exchanged, but still... the wait sucks

Would it be ok to say that is this thread is mostly about deals, packaging and who recently ordered what, but there are not a lot of opinions on particular film or A&V quality. Why is that?

At times, some people do give personal reviews / opinions about Criterion movies they have seen and or purchased.

Why don't you give your opinions on the aforementioned topic you asked about?

Anyone else notice that F For Fake and George Washington have been airing in HD on Showtime with Janus Films logo in the opening.

Maybe Blu-Ray upgrades for those 2 are in the works for this year? i will admit that F looked pretty rough but George Washington looked pretty good image wise

This is why a separate CC thread should be made for packaging. There are many in this thread who'd prefer to discuss films rather than if a film will be released in cardboard or plastic.

I think I'm going to end up saving about $20 over the last month and a half with the Amazon Pre-order price guarantee...... Amazon has really done a great job with the pricing of Criterions lately!
