Yeah, same here. Some boxes from amazon look like cars have run over them but the movies are always fine. The BBS and Brakhage sets I ordered from Barnes and Noble both looked perfect when I got them. I'll see how Borders has treated my copy of Enter the Void when I pick it up tomorrow....

Borders used that flimsy cardpaper packaging that is 10x the size of the actual BD packaging.
I have Prime, which means they package my items better than yours, nah,nah..
I have never had an issue w/Amazon for years. MY SSOS came yesterday in a nice small sturdy box and looked perfect when opened.

I've noticed much more discourse regarding SSoS other than Senso or even Fishtank. I can only assume that SSoS seems to be the preferred new-release (perhaps a better movie of the three)...so shall I be quickly placing my order for SSoS rather than waiting for the next B&N sale?

Amazon has delivered perfection to my doorstep time and again...but I couldn't beat the Borders price, so...I lose.

That's what they mean by damaged. Some people like their cardboard to look like it just came off the assembly line. Me included.

And similarly with the plastic, for that matter. (I've had a few arrive pretty well smashed, ditto for the cardboard.)

Actually Prime makes little difference wrt packaging. I have it too, I get some stuff pretty messed up sometimes, bubble bagged or otherwise. I usually forego ordering much of anything cardboard from them any more.

I've never had problems of damage because of Amazon packaging. Maybe it is your carrier?

No, Family Video shipped pieces of the BBS box set to me. From Borders, this is my 3rd delivery. The other 2 were CC BDs in plastic cases.

By the way, weren't you the one who complained months ago about being able to see the disc holder through the plastic? And you were also able to see scratches on your plactic cases which made you mad??

Interesting indeed...

Was it shipped in 'Five Easy Pieces'? Because that would be beyond ironic....

Since their demide. I have used Axel a few times and DVDWorldUSA. Movietyme are just edging both these on price, and I did use to use this company quite a bit in the past and they were always customs safe. HOWEVER, I see on their site it now says they cant be held responsible for any customs? I really want to order Sweet Smell of Success, Amarcord and Network (not Criterion but a truly brilliant film) but dont fancy the customs hit. Anyone order from there and comment on how they got on with the over £18 purchases?

On another note, just sold my Fear and Loathing Criterion It was tough to part with one of my earliest Criterion purchases, one of their best packages, a wonderfully crafted set (the artwork/slip-case combo) and one of my all-time favorite films. I listed it for sale somewhere not expecting it to go so quick, but it was snapped up and now I am left with a F&L void in my life until April Will be pre-ordering the blu-ray soon.
Never gotten hit by customs from movietyme. For starters everything is sent seperately. Secondly, the label on every single package states value is under $25 media so below the customs hit level. You are safe with media. I think the disclosure is more for the expensive equipment.

Also check out the sellers on amazon.co.uk. You can normally pick up most releases for £19.20. Also, on ebay moviemars sells releases for £19.10. All are sent from the US but have so far come customs friendly as well as much quicker. Only downside is neither ever have pre-releases available.

I saw the price and i couldn't believe my eyes, since for the next one amazon was selling for 20 dollars, it was a ex library copy. The one I got was just someone private used copy it appears. Even though it is a dvd and not a blu ray, this will probably be one of the prizes in my collection when it comes.

I already own Fish Tank from the UK, so I'm waiting on a sale. I don't know if it's in the same league as Criterion's undisputed classics (probably not), but it's a very good contemporary movie. The lead actress (Katie Jarvis) is quite good, but I'm not sure how much acting was involved. When she was "discovered" on the street while having a row with her boyfriend, she was an unemployed high school drop-out. She got pregnant right after the movie wrapped.

It's too bad that Criterion's release isn't anamorphic, though. I picked up a used copy of "The Harder They Come" at a local store last year. Unfortunately it skipped toward the end and became unwatchable, so I returned it for a refund. Wasn't the re-release by the other company after Criterion lost the rights non-anamorphic, as well?
