Tough choices, but, The 400 Blows and Sweet Smell of Success.

High and Low and Sweet Smell of Success is what I'm getting during the sale. Repulsion is also a great film

First choice: High and Low / Sweet Smell of Success
Second would be: 8 1/2 / Repulsion (just in terms of coolness Pale Flower)
and third: Solaris / 400 Blows

And Leon Morin, Priest is also a very fine Movie
Magician, for me there are about 10 or more Movies from Bergman I like better. A release of Persona would be great.

Easy!
I've always had no problem holding movies for as long as I needed to. I guess it all depends on who is working and if they feel like helping. My usual lady friend/cashier held about 13 for me the first time I bought during the sale last summer...this time, I'm only holding 3.

Because of her, I never even knew there was an official time limit on holds listed somewhere.

The Magician is my favorite Bergman film. I love the lush B&W photography. (it looks just about perfect in HD)

To each his own I guess.

Criterion posted an image of Scarecrow Video's in-store "Criterion Wishlist" section on their Twitter account.

Criterion then followed-up with an image of Martin Bell's Streetwise, saying "Here's one title from the @ScarecrowVideo wishlist that felt appropriate."

Could this be a hint? Has it been on the radar?

Me want one too........ Just finished watching Army of Shadows and Le Cercle Rouge. Perfect movie making. Every wannabe director should be made to study these two films.

On the purely speculative tip, I'm hoping for a major catalog title upgrade -- something like The Rules of the Game, Bicycle Thieves, or The Passion of Joan of Arc. I'm personally hoping for a Naked Lunch upgrade someday soon, so I'll throw that out there, too.
I'd be up for any and all of the films you listed, especially The Passion of Joan of Arc, which happens to be my favorite silent film. On the Criterion DVD release, I also found Richard Einhorn's score to be incredibly moving and suit the film quite nicely.

The beaver has their review of The Music Room up, and the screen shots look pretty amazing. Anyone interested in the film should check it out:

Its Bergmans birthday this month so hopefully some of his titles.
Like a Wild Strawberries upgrade would be amazing.
Bicycle Thieves, Passion and Rublev would be excellent.

Wow, it looks better than I thought it would. Criterion's release of the year, well maybe until I have the Vigo set in my hands. But even then.......

Thumbs up

Pierrot le Fou, Night of the Hunter, and Gimme Shelter have been shipped from B&N!

Out of the current Kurosawa films available for the 50% off sale on BD, what are some recommendations that I should consider? I'm thinking of picking up some of his along with a few more on my wishlist in 2 weeks time, or so, before the sale ends. I really enjoyed Rashomon, so out of the ones available, which would be a good choice since I liked that one so much? I'm leaning towards Seven Samaurai, since I enjoyed The Magnificent Seven so much.

I just called B&N and asked if they could hold Bottle Rocket and Sweet Smell of Success until Tuesday and he said they usually only hold for three days but since the sale starts that day he'd be fine with it, so now all I have to do is stop by and pick up my movies

The one Kurosawa film I want most on blu Criterion doesn't have the rights too. Would give an arm and a leg for Dursu Uzala on blu...

Just wanted to say, to those who thought it couldn't be done (me included), I sold ALL 3 of those blu-rays I had, a week before the mighty B&N sale (with no help from this forum in terms of buying, very nice people on CriterionForum). So out with 3, in with 3.

I like to thank Joe Dalek for recommending me on here to someone though.
