Quick question in regards to this sale. Does Amazon typically counter with their own sale? Did it happen with the last Criterion sale?

I believe last time Amazon dropped most or all Criterion blu-rays to $20, but with member discounts they still ended up being much cheaper at B&N.

To put it this way - during the last sale, I bought 12 or 13 Criterion Blu-Rays at $13 each, so I ended up saving $80-$90 versus buying them at B&N without a membership or buying them on Amazon.

Eh too lazy to go through the process or registering then coming back to cancel it. I'm good.

I think a few of us are gonna get screwed over at Barnes. They have the wrong LIST price in their computer system!

I hate to have to go in and argue with them over the list price. They believe the list is $49.99 Wow is that gonna suck. I don't know where they got that information.

http://video.barnesandnoble.com/DVD/...ings+of+desire

Even Best Buys.com has it at $49.99 List.

This is not good. This won't get fixed for a while at all.

Yep!

I had it listed as a "Want" in my trade-thread amongst other things..... and then Criterion announced it, and I immediately dumped it off of the list! It's been pre-ordered for awhile now, and I can't wait to get it!

Default Life of Brian

For those who own the Immaculate Blu-ray version of "Life of Brian" and the original Criterion DVD, does the Criterion have more or less in terms of special features included?

I just found out that Barnes & Noble's shipping price (to Estonia) on larger orders is actually cheaper than Amazon's on same quantities. Shipping for 5 releases is around $17 at Amazon but $13 at B&N. Can't wait for the sale, I have about $120 to spend so that means 4 or 5 releases for me.

I only want to order newer releases with plastic cases so I'm thinking of getting:
Pierrot le fou
Howards End
Monsoon Wedding
Wings of Desire (I hope they correct their list price)
and
Playtime or Kagemusha

Shouldn't matter...they are obligated to give you the price that they mark it as, not what is in the computer. It would be shocking to me that them or any other store in this economy would turn down a sale due to their own incorrectness.

Well, has anyone been to a B&N store today? We could clear up that question just by checking the price in-store. Perhaps someone could call....

I spoke to a guy at a Barnes location and they are in fact stickered at $49.99 and he said he put in a call to their purchasing dept. to look into it. I hope it gets straightened out.

I was not waiting for the sale for it, but instd opted to grab one at best buy for oddly enough their price $42.99 and I had them match the "Target" price of $36.59 (listed on .com) It is still a lot more than I normally pay even at Barnes but I wasn't doing discounts from $49.99 price tag.

Odd thing about Best Buy the person working at that location went to get it in the stock room he came back said it doesn't come out till next week!

I feel like everytime somethign gets released they have wrong information. He told me he would go ahead and let me buy a copy cause he asked someone.

Last week it was Prisoner Blu Ray set... BB believe the release isn't till Nov 10th. They need better people at corporate who know their stuff.

This tread is getting me hooking into buying Criterion lol. Gomorrah I haven't seen so it will be a blind buy but from all the buzz, I probably won't regret it.
