It's got a close up of Sean Connery's legs and tiny shorts.

I just didn't enjoy it, sorry. John Boorman's previous film, Catch Us if You can was much more enjoyable. His sequel to the Exorcist, was even better.

Ok, enough snark, Point Blank was actually awesome, even if Boorman's made more than a few duds.

[Show spoiler]B&N haven't updated my Branded to Kill order since I placed it at 8:30 this morning, I'm probably being paranoid about it, but normally it doesn't take that long for them to assign a shipping date, and it doesn't have any payment info on it, and I have a default card associated with my account.

Those titles have been delayed for those that ordered them on November 1st when the CC 50% sale started. You guys will probably get them after us. If not, I'll be hurt deep down inside, but will eventually move on and live a normal life.

Maybe that's why it's taking so long to process the order. I thought it was because of my other issue that they might have done something to my account. I just hope it doesn't get cancelled. If it does, I'll just have to wait to get it.

Also, I'll still get it long after you even if it does ship before yours.

Oh wait, you were the one who stole an extra copy of one of the movies they shipped to you in error. Yea, they may be holding out on you until you actually follow their explicit directions on returning their lost merchandise.

Better get on that!!!

They never gave me directions though! How can I follow them if they told me to hold onto the BD, wait to hear from them, not respond except to say they refunded me, and then not tell me what to do with it?

I'll stop now. I'm just paranoid about these things because they make me feel bad. I don't want to seem like I'm ripping off B&N.

Does anyone think that later announcements, rather than early ones will become the norm for Criterion? Both the December and November releases were announced later in the day. I'm hoping it's not the case today.

I forgot to mention yesterday that Bert Schneider died (one of the "B"s in BBS) at the age of 78.

If they were able to "hide" it as a supplement, then they might actually get the Kubrick estate to go along with it.

Hey...it was shown on TV (TCM) for the first time last night and Eastman House has screened it publically.

I saw that. Very sad. He was the nice one, at least compared to Bob Rafelson. they named the "dummy" that dispensed advice to the boys on the show after him.

Call me a dumbass but if I plumped for the SC, d'you think I could jack up my TV's video settings and achieve a kinda sorta "closer to the Criterion" saturated look?

Hate to break it to you, but B&N is claiming they're going to ship my order today. Took them a bit to update the status though. I doubt it will go out today, however, but if it does, I can assure you that I won't see Branded to Kill until at least mid to late January, long after your copy arrives.

Anymore hints about March's releases yet?

I watched Branded to Kill yesterday. To say the film left me speechless is an understatement. I am going to ask for someone to confirm a scene that I still don't believe. (not sure if I was having an acid flashback or something)

Warning clicking on the spoiler tag below will expose you to foul language as I will state my question in the spirit of the film.

[Show spoiler]Did #3 killer shoot his girlfriend/wife in the puss before kicking her body into the shit house only to have part of her head flushed down the toilet?

I have never laughed so hard in my life, and I'm not sure that I should be.

A blu-ray from and old master scanned for DVD might look better on blu-ray, but isn't it possible that a new scan/master done for blu-ray could be better? Is this an issue?

It would also be interesting to know about the tradeoffs of eliminating scratches, noise, etc. Is any image detail lost? How much DNR do they do? Sharpening?

Could it be that a grind-house appearance for an old film is a more filmic experience?
Every CC I have comes with a detailed description of the transfer process. That includes the source of the film reel, and the scanning procedure.

I've really been enjoying the My Criterion Collection feature of the web page, but I wish they'd include older releases, like the original Tokyo Drifter. That way I could have a more complete view of my collection.

I suppose asking for Laserdiscs is too much.

Criterion Cast has not updated their Twitter page with spoilers yet. Don't they usually start early?

Targets has been in the top 10-ish of my Criterion wishlist for sooooo long. I would be ecstatic if it were announced!

New transfers are always done.
