City Lights and Picnic would make it a good month for me but I sort of gave up of City Lights

Thanks man, he should be on the upswing today. He's been sick for 2 days already and feeling better so far today (probably just jinxed myself).

I had Picnic at Hanging Rock in my Amazon.uk cart yesterday then thought "you know, I should wait until after the announcements...just in case".

As Kisses of Death go...

It will only be announced today if you had purchased it. If you left it in your cart, you just ruined the day for all Criterion/Chaplin fans across the globe.

Thanks. Karma is a bi***.

Blu-ray or you would take it even as Eclipse on DVD?

Speaking of Dziga Vertov I'd quite like to see a Criterion release of his work. Man with a Movie Camera. On Blu-Ray. Multiple Soundtracks. Heaven.

I'm down for this as well (though Kino has Man with a Movie Camera).

Forgot about that. There's still plenty of his stuff that I don't think is available though.

That's blasphemous! It's exceptional based on the Cat Stevens soundtrack alone!

There is plenty. Only talking "OK" releases, it's just Kino's Man with the Movie Camera" and Flicker Alley's "Stride, Soviet". So much more, "A Sixth Part of the World", "Three Songs About Lenin", etc, can be released.

Even Week End has been out for some time on DVD.

Add onto that The Conformist, Silence de la mer, Repo Man, Certified Copy, the early Pasolinis, the Mizoguchi collection to name a few, and with what looks to be a fantastic 2Q slate from MoC just around the corner...

Also, the three films I'm most interested in from Criterion so far this year, two have been previously available in the UK for awhile (Belle de jour and World On A Wire [DVD]) and the other is bare-bones (Letter Never Sent). I may pick up Three Outlaw Samurai as well, during a sale, but it's no priority.

Well said, Joe. It is for this reason I am serously thinking maybe it is time to get a region-free player (darn those Christmas bills, though). Who knows when Crtierion will get around to releasing the films they hold rights to already out in the UK. Instead, so far in 2012 we get new spines of Tiny Furniture and several others that leave me underwhelmed. Still, it is early in the year and Criterion has hit some nice home runs so far (Letter Never Sent, World on a Wire, the Gorin Eclipse, to name a few). I appreciate the David Lean box set also and will be picking it up eventually.

Even more than releasing the titles available in the UK, though, I really want them to pick up the pace with the blu-ray upgrades I keep waiting for month after month (adding A Night to Remember made last month's announcements even sweeter). I guess they will get around to all of these, including the UK titles, eventually. In the meantime, I am discovering I really like the films in their Eclipse sets, so at least I have those to console me until then. Discovering the Eclipse series has been a huge joy the past couple of months.

The sad fact is that with only 4-5 titles a month, that's only 48-60 blus a year, and you know probably half of them will be new titles... so that only leaves 24-30ish upgrades a year, out of a collection that spans 600 titles (not to mention questionable films like Tiny Furniture thrown in there, taking up a valuable spine #).
