Watching old films in the big screen is such an amazing experience. Last year, my city screened an original copy of Los Olvidados from Luis Buñuel as part of a local "festival". Seeing one of my favorite films in the big screen was one of the best experiences I have ever had with a film .

Just watched Godzilla the other night. Great movie all around, but that Hollywood remake was terrible. If I heard Raymond Burr say his Japanese was rusty once more I was going to have a aneurism.

I'm amazed how the film really had so much more of a dramatic pull on me then I remember. I guess with age came a better understanding of the time and place of its creation.

Well, at least William Hopper wasn't in it, smoking like a chimney and reporting that Gojira's girlfriend dumped him, even thought that might have helped narrow down the causes for his running amok.

It's still better than the 1998 version.

You mean Diddy covering Robert Plant couldn't save the film?

I very much recommend the transfers on the Marlene Dietrich Universal Vault Collection DVD Set on TCM's shop. I have already put my opinion in on the films (Dishonored being my fav Dietrich/Sternberg).

Ok. I made an offer on a copy of Black Moon on ebay. The offer I made was 20$. Then I got an counter-offer, wich was also on 20$. Except now the items name was changed to "The Language of Life - Swirl Like a Leaf".

And when I search ebay for Black Moon the items comes up with the name "The Language of Life - Swirl Like a Leaf".

Can someone explain to me whats going on?

She is great in Touch of Evil. The Eureka BD has a supplement that states the studio didn't know that she was in the film until they saw rushes.

I watched Eyes Without A Face for the first time last night, and what a true masterpiece. I loved the beautiful ending especially.

Ordered La Jetee from DVD Empire and threw in Drive to get free shipping. Do you or any previous DVD Empire customers know how long it generally takes to receive orders mailed with freebie shipping?

World on a Wire at DVD Beaver

Criterion's looks more natural. Their appears to be a decent amount of DNR in the Region B copy when compared to Criterion's. Can't wait.

+1 on can't wait.

I pretty much shuffled the World on a Wire and Anatomy of a Murder preorders to the back of my mind right after placing them but I've been getting those 'oh yeah, this is getting close' tingles lately.

WoaW is a blind buy so I'm particularly looking forward to getting my hands on it.

I really regret not preordering World on a Wire back when the price was low. I only preorderd Anatomy of a Murder. Oh well, WoaW is totally worth full price.

Did you remember to give them your address?

I received the $10.00 coupon email after about a week. The replacement disc arrived after an additional week or so. (@2 weeks after I mailed the defective disc to Criterion's New York office) The disc arrives in a plain cardboard disc sleeve. I was worried that the disc would be scratched, but my copy was pristine.

How long have you been waiting?

Oh Shanghai Express ranks up there at the top for me as well. I just hold Dishonored above them all just for my own reasons that has nothing to do with the "artistic" aspect of the film itself or however one would "rate" a film.
