Nooooooooo!!!!! Got my latest batch of Criterion Blu's today and The Last Emperor came in the cardboard case.

Ugg, guess ya can't always win. Maybe I should just order all 9 of those Criterion Blu cases in preparation of getting more cardboard cases when I eventually buy the others.

**EDIT** - Is paypal the ONLY way you are allowed to pay for replacement cases with Criterion? I had VERY bad experiences with paypal in the past and believe my account is still frozen. I don't want to pay using a scam organization like paypal under any circumstance.

Could someone refresh my memory on the replacement cost? $5 for the first and 2.50 for additional cases?

Read the first page of this thread. $5 each for first two and $2.50/each after that. Would cost $27.50 for all nine cases.

Well, sorry you didn't get what you wanted, but you can't really be surprised. There hasn't been a report of anyone anywhere getting any of the eight titles in plastic cases. Criterion will likely keep shipping them like this for some time.

Chad, if you're fearful of PayPal, then your best bet would be to contact Criterion (probably Jon Mulvaney) and see if there's another option available for you. For all I know, you might be able to mail them a check, but you won't know until you ask the proper channels, correct?

Criterion only accepts Paypal for the replacement cases. I emailed to ask whether there were any other alternatives back when they were first made available, and Karen said Paypal was the only way.

Thanks, I went ahead and e-mailed them. It would be nice if they just put the Blu-Ray cases on their online store website. Guess that would be too logical for Criterion.

If Criterion refuses to accept payment for the cases in any manner other than PayPal would anyone like to order and pay for me? Naturally I would pay you the $27.50 plus some additional money for helping me out on this.

Got a note from Criterion a week ago now saying they're back-ordered on cases and expect them in 2 weeks, and my order should get to me in 4-6 weeks. The lady said when the cases do come in they ship out USPS Priority, so once they ship it should only take 3 days to get here max.

I am in Australia and just received the Bluray disc of "The 400 Blows" from Amazon - and it is the cardboard sleeve version! I am quite surprised, as it was backordered, and I received 3 other Criterion Bluray discs a week before, from the same order, in the plastic cases.

Anyway, I am not fussed - the cardboard sleeves are quite attractive, and the only thing I have against them is that the disc book thing slips out of the slipcase cover quite easily if you're not being careful.

No reason to be surprised. The 400 Blows is one of the original 9 digipak titles, and the 3 others you ordered are not.

With the exception of The Third Man, none of the other 9 digipak titles have been offered in a clear case yet.

paypal is a scam organization?!

I've been using it for...6 years now, and have had absolutely nothing to complain about.

Yes, in my opinion it is. And I'm not alone. Many people I know have had problems with PayPal. My neighbor used to make a living off Ebay but had to quit due to constant problems with PayPal.

They froze my account for no good reason several years ago with $600 in it. It took my 3 F'n years to get my money from them. I refuse to ever deal with them again.

I'm sorry to hear that!

Fortunately I only use it on small ebay purchases from time to time.
Never keep a balance in there.
As soon as I sell something, I transfer my paypal balance to my checking account.

This was absolutely true. Their prices used to be the lowest by far. Add to that the 20%-25% off and it was EASILY worth the wait. And I never had to wait more than 7-10 days. But now that their prices are sometimes more than Amazon, it's not really worth it. Though you can still get a great deal every once in a while.

I took advantage of a coupon I had and an online discount to score Che for about 30 bucks, and when I went back to Barnes & Noble Tuesday I found their big DVD/Blu sale plus the big 2, get one free so I ordered Paris Texas, 8 1/2 and Pierrot le Fou. I got crazt deals, but I kind of hate ordering from B&N. I put in my order for Che last Tuesday morning and, like every other order I've placed there, it didn't ship same day and it's still not here after almost the end of the 8-day max estimate (it hasn't even updated tracking info for the shipment since Saturday). I opted for the three-day guaranteed for the Blus I ordered this Tuesday (normally I simply go for the longer, by USPS option because you have to sign for the guaranteed shipments and I'm usually out for classes). Hopefully I'll have all my stuff by early next week at the latest. Can't wait to check out Che and to revisit PT and 8 1/2

Once again, thanks.

According to Criterion's Facebook page, David Fincher's The Game may be on its way.
