So, who else just loved Heaven's Gate? I'm not lying when I say it may become one of my favorite movies with a few more views.

I just finished watching it and came here first!

I liked the movie overall, but it definitely lacked a core focus or central driving character. The cinematography is fantastic, and some scenes in the film (dances, battles) are quite well done. But the movie did feel slow in parts. Walken's character, Champion, felt underdeveloped, and his change of attitude in the film wasn't really conveyed clearly.

I'm not sure what to think of it. I wouldn't call it a flawed masterpiece, but it's a good movie that falls short of being great, mainly due to a slightly messy script and, at the risk of overusing this word, some self-indulgence.

I'd like to watch it again in the future to see if I have a different reaction.

I was amazed at how many familiar faces were in there other than Kristofferson and Hurt. Sam Waterson, Jeff Bridges, Brad Dourif, Joseph Cotten, Tom Noonan, and Mickey freaking Rourke.

Just bought one last film which I wasn't planning on: Battle of Algiers because B&N extended the sale and offered up a 30% off coupon on their website for anyone to use. eh, one less title on my wishlist. I keep putting off The Mikado though, and that's seriously been on there the longest. Next sale, I think I'll finally grab it.

Wow this place is dead today. Is everyone comatose from the feasting, or are you all out risking your lives for some mediocre sales? I know Canada us attempting the Black Friday thing, and the sales are totally lame.

He was the only good thing about that cartoon. Film Flam was horrible, almost as horrible as Scrappy Doo.

If people are going to stay home and watch Scooby Doo, at least watch Mystery Incorporated. It's seriously awesome as they did a remake of Kubrick's The Shining, a parody of the velvet underground and Nico, a homage to Beyond the Valley of the dolls, and several episodes spoofing HP Lovecraft. Yeah, so much in there not for children.

Ive already ordered every other criterion I'm interested in so the almost $9 postage makes it pointless. Also already used up my 30% off coupon which would of been helpful lol might have to wait until the next 50% off sale when there will be plenty of new titles I want or it might drop on amazon. Not that interested in buying from someone on here after a truly horrendous 2 month long fiasco I recently had to deal with. That was pretty off putting. If I can somehow find it for $20 or less I'll snap it up.

The original cartoon is still the best version. I believe it aired around 9am M-F and was a great show to watch when one was home from school sick

The short answer is most definitely yes, The longer answer, though, has to take into account the more rhetorical nature of 12 Angry Men, which has unique dramatic properties that even an excellent courtroom drama such as Anatomy arguably possesses in a diminished intensity since it adheres to more traditional narrative conceits.

Agreed, but MI is really close to the awesomeness of the original 1969 series, which I do own on DVD in the super awesome Mystery Machine plastic case that actually moves across the floor. However, my discs are all wonky for "season 3," and Best Buy suck at exchanging Christmas gifts, as it was one, so I had to download the missing episodes. At least they were the lesser quality ones, and not the good ones.

I'm also partial to the New Scooby Doo movies that had the guest stars like Mama Cass, Don Knotts, and Davy Jones (who they screwed up on, the drew him the same height as Shaggy and put an E in Davy. I know, nitpicking a Monkee appearance in a cartoon)

The Battle of Algiers is probably the best package Criterion has put out. The extras are amazing, all of them are worth watching and make the film unfold in unique ways. The film itself is one of my favorite "war" films and I can clearly see the importance of it. Amazing stuff, hope you enjoy it !

They also attempted something similar here in Mexico last week. It was called "El Buen Fin" (The Good Weekend) but the discounts were horrible. Not really worth it unless you were getting electronics. I didn't need one and think buying stuff just for the sake of it is stupid and hurts my wallet .

It was written into his contract that he should be wearing imperceptible lifts.

Absolutely. Stewart is wonderful in this film. (come to think of it, I would be hard pressed to name a performance of his that wasn't aces)

I have watched the film before. I just had other titles higher up on the priority list, as I did my major orders on the 29th. I was actually looking at this for the July sale, but the extra 30% was too enticing.

And yeah, the Canadian sales are silly. 100 dollars off a crappy HP laptop so it's only 600 at Staples. It's old stock and it's HP, and HPs are terrible laptops from my use of them. Overheat and always seem to have bad RAM. Seriously, there were better sales on yesterday. Canadian attempts at Black Friday don't even lower prices to regular US ones, they're not going to curb people from going across the border on non-sale periods.

Haha! But what about the e in his name and the fact he looked more like Dudley Moore than Davy Jones?

Eh, blame the copywriters stoned on Scooby "snacks" for that.

Now that you've mentioned Dudley Moore, some part of me wishes Dav(e)y would've played Arthur in the remake.

Blind bought the Three Colors trilogy. Great price after 30% off. I've read nothing but raves about the set and am pretty confident I will enjoy the movies. The synopsis sounds interesting.

I think his Illustrious widow wouldn't have let him, and might have hit him if he even suggested it. I'm not one for tabloid gossip, but I think there was some truth to the crap that went on between him and his young wife. Micky and Peter hate her apparently, and so do all of Davy's kids. If you really want to depress yourself and be horrified, search for Davy Jones and newlywed game on YouTube. It's bad.

I'll stop now. Lets get back to discussing Scooby Doo and bd covers or something.
