Kino's disc states it has 'The Legacy of Die Nibelungen' 1:08 mins in 1080i. I 'm still not sure if they are the same documentary. Can anyone confirm or deny this? **edit** never mind they are the same. I wonder why they named them differently ?? And why KINO chose to go the 1080i route when both releases are double disc dual layered. By all accounts the MoC release has the higher bitrate so if they could do it why not KINO.. Guess I'll have to get the MoC version. Please make this happen!! Last edited by Banned User; 12-13-2012 at 03:22 PM. |

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Eclipse only going to ever be a dvd line as it is intended to be films they never intend to give a proper blu treatment?

2046 received pretty mixed reviews from what I remember. Personally, I don't think it's on par with ITMFL, although it is a follow-up. The rights are with Sony, and they don't seem that interested in releasing catalog titles on BD unless it's a big title.

Interesting stuff. It would be nice to know what everybody does with the booklets that come with certain releases (BFI, MoC, Criterion). I ALWAYS read the essays after finishing the film. It is one of those truly valuable assets of having a physical copy (I know they can be "digitalized" but I like to take them out and start reading them). Most of the essays Criterion puts out are informative and entertaining, they are an essential piece of the package and I often enjoy them more than the supplements. The interviews are probably my favorite pieces. Most of the time they are from the director of the film, made during the time the movie was released.

![]() Cancelled Brazil with B&N, as it wouldn't extend for some reason, and ordered it through Amazon with series 6 of Doctor Who. It's still going to take a month and cost 3 bucks more. PURPLE NOON is supposedly going time ship on the 31st. I can wait for both. I just want Rashomon which shipped a month ago. Also still waiting for Battle of Algiers and Week end, which shipped two weeks ago. Looks like It's a supply issue I guess. Still have plenty of CCs to rewatch though. ![]() |

I think it would make an excellent blu-ray release, but I don't personally think it's on par either.

Yeah I think I'm just going to pick up some of those Criterions that I never managed to buy during the DVD days. I'll hold off on Le Samourai though because it has to be coming out soon.

I think 2046 vs In The Mood For Love depends on which you saw first.
I saw 2046 first and was blown away but I've never felt that In The Mood For Love was on par with it. |

Recently I wanted to watch it in one session. I invited over 3 friends who are film buffs to watch it with me. We had breaks for coffee and a break for lunch halfway through. Everyone loved it. Seeing it all in one day is amazing. Highly recommended. |

The booklet in Touch of Evil is about 80 pages long! And some of the Criterion booklets are very substantial, such as Carlos or The Battle of Algiers (which I still haven't found time to read ![]() |

I finished watching The Last Days of Disco. I watched about an hour's worth yesterday, and re-watched that hour + finished the last 50 minutes today.
I loved it yesterday more than I did today. In the end, I ended up liking it but not loving it. I expected more. I guess I should have known that when I opened the pamphlet, originally expecting it to be the standard Criterion booklet. Anyone interested in buying/trading? |
