Well I really wish I did too Last time I looked through them..there were a lot that interested me.

I'd also like to know what the best version of this is.

On the Waterfront has gotta be the early favorite for Blu-ray of the year. I don't know what else more we can ask of Criterion.

I'm practically drooling at the mouth in anticipation of the Badlands release, just based on the review here.

I do want to check out On the Waterfront next time I catch a big sale price.

I really, really, really tried to do that with Carlos but I could not turn off the first half and only lasted a day or two before going back to watch the second half.

Every single aspect was perfectly executed. The script was clever and engaging without being even remotely preachy or grinding any axes. The cinematography was spot on in capturing both an 80s feel and a semi-documentary feel. Ramirez was fantastic but was only one of several outstanding performances.

And Joy Division? Pure genius. The last time period music pieces completely trasported me to that extent Billy Batts was telling Tommy to go home and get his ****ing shinebox
Assayas does everything right with Carlos.
I love the soundtrack! In fact, I'm listening to it now
I eventually found myself a copy of the soundtrack...
The highlight for me was "Drill" by Wire.
You're right: the cast is outstanding. Particularly Alexander Scheer as Johannes, Nora von Waldstätten as Magdalena Kopp, and Ahmad Kaabour as Wadie Haddad.
I recently watched Soderbergh's Che, but it has nothing on Carlos.

Just finished M.

It is certainly a very sophisticated film for its time. From the acting, to the directing, to the concept, etc.

I really enjoyed it.

They're the same (pretty sure right down to the disc size), just different cover art.

I'm almost broke now.

Just ordered via expresslane at Best Buy: Rushmore, Gray's, Royal Tenenbaums, Gold Rush, Wages of Fear today in the Fry's sale pricematched. Also bought a bunch of non-Criterion blu's from Barnes and Noble and Moviestop for decent prices Citizen Kane Digibook, The Insider, All 3 Alvin and Chipmunks movies, Biutiful, Goodwill Hunting, and Bonnie and Clyde Digibook.

There's still a few more Criterions I wanna buy on sale.

Not taking any chances. I did the math and I got my criterions for a really really good price (not going to post on here how you can ask me via PM, but let's just say after math and taxes they averaged out to about $18 a title).

I'll get as many as I can snatch up right now, and then just wait for a B&N criterion sale since I never know about the criterion.com sales.

Nice, I just added Twenty Four Eyes to my Hulu queue. Can you or anyone else recommend any Criterion's off Hulu? I normally base mine off the reviews on this site but Hulu has a lot more that aren't on here.

Once I can cut the cord (Verizon is making it difficult to do so, and not in an "omg Verizon is amazing" way), Hulu+ will be my top media priority. I have a decent but unexceptional private library in my home and a great public library nearby with lots of Criterion DVDs, but two months of Hulu and I can gorge iScottie style, helping my prioritize purchases. Overall, access is more important to me than ownership. Ownership just guarantees access; for now, Criterion-wise, Hulu seems to pretty well guarantee that, too.

Anyone know the best place to watch Peppermint Candy?

There doesn't seem to be an adequate release of it and here's hoping Crit Co. is interested in releasing it.

I'm trying to use it as a vehicle for purchasing as well. If I really connect with certain films, I might be willing to purchase them at a later date. There is a number of Ozus that were added recently, but I'm trying to save them for a special occasion.

I finally watched Bob Le Flambeur...everyone's hype was right on. I really enjoyed it. It's going to expire in the next three days or so, so watch it ASAP, if you haven't seen it yet.

I seem to save EVERYTHING for a rainy day. During the free weekend I considered Ozu (based on your suggestion and P@t's obsession) but since there'd be ads as part of the free deal, I just couldn't do it. His level of deliberate pacing would be utterly ruined.

I've limited my purchases in the last few months to bargains (latest walk of shame: Book of Eli... but it was $2 and the Tom Waits scene is worth it). That leaves Criterion purchases as a twice, maybe three times a year proposition. Even my beloved Kieslowski and Harold & Maude waited for mercifully quick deals.
