It's the films Wellspring released not Fantoma. Fantoma released 5 Fassbinder films, Wellspring released, not sure right at this moment what the count is, but it's in the teens. No one has the rights to the ones Fantoma released in the US as of now.

Oh man, that essay was hilarious! You could put it on The Onion's website as satire and no one would be able to tell the difference. I took it as Criterion in damage control mode.

The comment section was quite entertaining as well.

I think Kino's got the Keaton's largely covered on these shores.

Grabbing this for $75 bucks a couple summers ago was one of the best blu purchases I've ever made. It would've eaten at me otherwise, particularly since I would not be paying the prices it is going for now.

Kind of regret preordering Badlands from Amazon. My order has been "Shipping Soon" since Monday and it is now Friday. My Best Buy had a copy on Tuesday for the same price.

I would contact amazon they need to upgrade that to Sat. Delievery or I would buy it at Best Buy.

Except for that Amazon thing of how, once it's flagged "Shipping Soon", you can't cancel or amend an order. I've long suspected Amazpn does that when it's awaiting extra stock, to stop customers from going somewhere else.

Aaaaaahhhh!

I finally received my Studio Canal copy last week and have yet to see it. Considering I've only seen it on DVD, I should be pleased

Re: Buster Keaton

Maybe CC could release on of his 1930's films. I have no idea if they are any good though.

I had to Google that. At least I know now that my co-worker had some keen taste in movies.

This will be a big deal for me, because, as a member, I should get 60% off each title.
That's totally not how percentages work. Not picking on you, just don't want you to think you are getting a better deal than you are (which, I suppose, is exactly what retailers who do these kinds of things want you to think).

I canceled my Amazon order of Badlands for the same reason this week, because I had preordered it, but still kept seeing the "Not Yet Shipped" status. Thankfully, my order was never stuck in the "Shipping Soon" loophole. I went to Best Buy down the street and bought my copy.

Rosemary's Baby has "Not Yet Shipped", but I'm in no huge hurry with that one.

Good point. "50% off + members save an additional 10%" does not equal 60%. That's what I get for staying up too late posting.

I'm good at calculating these things 98% of the time, but I make mistakes the other 3% of the time.

Still, it's a solid price.

Hey, with a 20% coupon that'll make it 80% off. Thus $8 Criterions

I may not be smart, but I can lift heavy things.

I did end up buying Seven Samurai on Blu-ray from Barnes & Noble for $18 by combining several coupons at the time. They had a 40% off sale on Blu-rays in December, I had a coupon for 30% off, and I used the members discount. (I know that this did not add up to 80% off total, but the coupons still added up quite nicely with over 60% off.)

At any rate, I am looking forward to the 50% off sale so that I can throw in my members discount as well.

Do they have the rights to the films?

I'm with you Owl. My Criterion Collection would be much smaller if not for these B&N sales
