Wow, interesting. All of Terrence Malick's films are spiritual journeys in a sense.

To The Wonder has been getting mix reviews (more negatives than positives). Has anyone seen it yet, and how does it compare to The Tree of Life.

Thanks
To answer your question: Yes. Although cancellation is a possibility, it is a good sign to see the item drop in price. I ordered it when it was priced 27 dollars a couple of days ago.

I feel that amazon has a big stock on both Last Year at Marienbad and Leon Morin, Priest.

I expect Malick films to be polarizing, especially now, as he strays further and further away from narrative. It sounds like this one is his most experimental film yet. I've read some reviews that seem to like his approach, like this one. Malick/Lubezki seems like a combination that can't fail for me, so I'm excited.

That said.. I don't expect him to ever top The Tree of Life. That's the kind of film that felt like his entire career was building towards (which makes sense, because he was planning it since the 70s).

I ordered Leon Morin when it said the availability was 9 or 10 days, and I just got an email saying it should be here next week. I think they are still getting them in, although it is impossible to know for sure.

I just check my email, it had the same message. Last Year at Marienbad is still pending shipment.

I completely agree with your comment. Ebert's comment that The Tree Life as a meditation or prayer is spot on.

I mentioned this before, Malick's films are artistically analogous to Tolstoy's writings (especially Hadji Murad). I recommend anyone who enjoys Malick's work to read Tolstoy (his short stories are fantastic).

Found Army of Shadows on Amazon for less than $25 from a seller last week, only for them to cancel the order saying it was out of stock (or maybe they'd realised how cheap they were selling it for) - typical!

I have to say I'm surprised prices are so high for this already, I swear it took Third Man months to go that high, and this has been out for much longer so you'd think more people would, you know, own it. Chungking Express is cheaper as well... is it possible they will get lower in the coming weeks/months as more people start to sell theirs? I guess there might just be a big rush to snatch them up...

I ordered Le Cercle Rouge and Army of Shadows from Deep Discount. Listed as available when I ordered, then placed on back order after it was processed. Hard for me to believe these have already disappeared. I'll wait it out and see how it goes.

I saw it in Paris a couple weeks ago. It reminded me of Days of Heaven more than Tree of Life. I'm mixed in my reaction to it, I think I will have to see it again.

Based on the shipping estimates and Amazon's explanation of what those mean (found here), I'd say it's safe to say that Amazon has NO stock of any of these. They are ordering more from their distributors. The question, then, is whether their distributors have them/can get them.

Watching the trailer for the Carrie remake got me thinking that if there's any chance that Criterion could release the original around October?

Thanks for the feedback. I am big fan of Days of Heaven. The sense of innocence (due to the narrators perspective) and Morricone's film score elevate it to a classic film.

Paris is an amazing city. The Louvre and musee d'Orsay are the some of greatest museums in the world. I was glad to get a chance to see Manet's "Olympia" and Jacque-Louis David's "Oath of the Horatii". And of course "La Gioconda"

Great avatar by the way. I envy Belmondo.

They released it on LaserDisc back in the day, so it technically, I guess, IS in the collection. I doubt they'd get the rights back, but who knows.

It's the internet, people see it as a free for all. To stir up shit, look at all the nasty attacks by the people on the other criterion forum against dunham. Don't like it, don't buy it, but stop rabbiting on and on about what a fat ***** she is because you don't like her film and don't think it belongs in the sacred criterion collection.

Also IMDB is a joke anyways, it's all trolling.

There's a fine line between debating and trolling.

Thank you for the clarification. I did receive an email from amazon saying they are shipping Leon Morin, Priest earlier than expected.

blkhrt also received that same email.

Last Year at Marienbad is still pending to be shipped, according to my order. I hope their distributors have more copies.
