I just watched The Ice Storm trailer. That's pretty awesome.

I've been a big fan of Joan Allen since I saw her in Searching for Bobby Fischer back in the early 1990s. That's another movie that I would not mind seeing as a Criterion title. She's excellent in the Bourne films as well, of course.

Right, which is why I wish I knew if I wanted it right away so I could be prepared to try...

I've never gotten anything from them but for years now I've wanted to. Realistically it won't happen just yet.

Devil's Backbone is an excellent film. Creepy movie that delivers. Glad to see The Ice Storm getting an upgrade as well.

I just watched The 400 Blows and I loved it.

Excellent story from the beginning to the end.

Recent Blu Rays we've watched:

Wages of Fear - Maybe the most tense movie I've ever seen! Loved it! Ordered Diabolique.

Royal Tenenbaums - Picked up that recent sale on Amazon. Haven't seen it in years, and I still really enjoyed it, though it isn't my favourite of his films.

And, not Criterion - Laura - First time seeing this classic noir. And it's just wonderful.

Just curious, which is your favorite from Wes?

I want this Blu-ray badly, because I've always loved watching my old DVD. Not sure whether or not to hold out for an entire box set upgrade of The Adventures of Antoine Doinel, though.

If I order The 400 Blows, you'd better believe I'm ordering a plastic case to go along with it.

Moonrise Kingdom, now, by a country mile.

And before that, Life Aquatic, actually.

Nope, not at all. I'm not the biggest fan of Wes so I was just curious as to which is his favorite. No hate here at all.

It's just that any Wes talk brings out the haters.

I could easly members and/or leaders of organized religions thinking very well of the film.

And as for the Catholic Church in particular, well come on.

If you were an accountant and Jean-Paul Belmondo played an accountant would you really care what he said or did or would that just automatically be the best freaking movie you ever saw?
I definitely agree faith was a serious thing in the film and treated respectfully. I'm awful at expressing myself, but what I got from Morin wasn't a representation of faith that was specifically Catholic. That's what I meant by not doing the Catholic Church any favors, Morin's teachings seemed a bit non-denominational to me. But then again, I'm used to fire breathing baptists.

Lol. Oh yeah, if Jean-Paul Belmondo played....well most things, it's the best freaking movie ever.

Do you like Wes Anderson? I really like all of his movies, but you said you dislike Life Aquatic (which is my personal favorite). I would be curious to eat your thoughts.

As for the announcements I'm pleased by the release of Lord of the Flies. The movie isn't as good as the book, but it's still great in a different way. The others are fine. It seems like there's atleast one thing for everyone. I had never heard of that The Life of Oharu and have never seen the devils backbone so I'll make sure to check those out.

I love American Beauty too. It's always annoying when I hear that it robbed other movies of the Oscar in '99 or that it's a copy of Ordinary People.

Didn't know you were a fan of Mizo...great to hear Spidey! I watched Oharu for the first time on Hulu and can't wait for it to be released. I just hope the Barnes and Noble sale starts before/by July 9.

Yeah, for some reason people take liking him (or not) as a personal affront. Doesn't make any sense.
