Lost in Translation needs to be a Criterion release. My existing Blu-ray transfer is good, but Criterion could make it golden.

I liked Marie Antoinette a lot as well, and I want it as a Criterion release simply so that we can have The Cure - "All Cats Are Grey" and Siouxsie and the Banshees - "Hong Kong Garden" on a Criterion.

Yessiree, Last Year at Marienbad is a digipak.

Digibooks basically look like hardcover books with pages and disc holders inside. (Poltergeist, Blade Runner, King Kong, Unforgiven, etc.)

Thanks. I'm catching on ... slowly.

I'm still debating whether to keep my used Marienbad copy or not. I know it's all about the film and not the packaging ......... but still. It wasn't exactly cheap ... at least not to me. Being that it's OOP makes a difference. (Just thinking out loud again).

Outstanding!

I want Wait Until Dark on Blu-ray.

(Some fun trivia: Wait Until Dark was directed by Terrence Young, who directed Dr. No, From Russia With Love, and Thunderball.)

They're both 30% off, so plus the coupon and membership I'll get them for around $22 after tax each.

Only two in the sale that I don't currently already own:

Others there fyi:
Seventh Seal
Fanny & Alexander
Red Shoes
Thin Red Line
Days of Heaven
Traffic
8 1/2
That's all the Criterions that are 30% off? I have a coupon and $10 gift card and membership. I only have Thin Red Line, and Days of Heaven of that list. But none of those others are huge priorities.

edit. Paris, Texas also 27.99

Criterion has a plastic case replacement for Last Year at Marienbad for $5 on their website. That's what I case my movie and booklet in. I keep the scruffy cardboard digipak in a safe place where it will not get jacked up any more than it already is.

Oh sweet! Thanks for the info! I've never bought a replacement case before. Does it come with the film's artwork too (... as in the paper cover just inside the case)?

I was poking around Deep Discount's website last night and noticed that they still list Marienbad as being available, so I thought it wouldn't hurt to place an order. I'm thinking they wouldn't have it listed anymore if they didn't have copies to sell, right?, so it can't hurt to try. But then if they come through, I'll have the used one to sell. ... Oy.

You betcha. The plastic replacement case has the artwork, although it looks relatively unspectacular, since the letters are not raised like on the digipak. I love having it, though.

Thanks again!! In this particular case, I would definitely prefer it.

Fanny and Alexander
The Three Colors Trilogy
12 Angry Men
The Rules of the Game
Rushmore

The first three titles alone make it the best.
Yep. Very Strong. I can't wait to see what this years November releases will be.

This brings up another question. Does anybody know how a Criterion release in a plastic replacement case would/should be treated if sometime down the road you ever wanted to trade it in on Amazon for a gift card? Could you still categorize it as "Like New" condition?

Is anyone interested in owning the original digipaks that CC released with their first few releases? I think I have all of them, but I may be missing one. I have to check when I get home.

I was going to chuck them, but figured if someone wanted them for their collection, I'd rather let someone own them.

I'll be moving across the state (NC) over the summer, and am looking to get rid of anything I won't need!

PM me if interested!

Another question for the collection.

I have seen Breathless and love the movie. But I have yet to get the criterion release. Is there any other Blu-Rays on Criterion of Godard that I should get before that?

Also been thinking of which Wes Anderson movie to get(hence why I ended up not getting Bottle Rocket). How would rank the 5 movies that are on Criterion?

Welcome to the site.

Vivre sa Vie
Pierrot Le Fou (OOP)
Weekend
Band of Outsiders

It's fair to say Rushmore is the most beloved of Wes Anderson's films on Criterion BluRay, so get that one.

Thank you and I want to get Pierrot Le Fou pretty badly. I always end up losing at the last possible second on E-Bay though. I very well may get Band of Outsiders once that is released on blu-ray.

Yea I keep switching between Bottle Rocket and Rushmore as far as the first Wes Anderson movie to get.

Considering he can be pretty decisive, I suggest renting them beforehand. But if you like what you have seen by him so far, Rushmore is the safest bet. It's not overcome by artifice like his later films, nor is it as noticeably small as Bottle Rocket.

Yea I keep going back to Rushmore also because I am a bit of a Bill Murray fan.
