it looks like new york and kentucky get charged tax

so if i preorder from now until the end of june on one order all of them will ship for free and ill get them on release day or closely thereafter?

how easy is it to cancel parts of an order? say a deep discount sale or barnes and noble sale comes up?

I actually received the March releases from Criterion last Friday, instead of yesterday,
which I was very excited about.
I know others got their new releases early as well.
The best part is shipping was free, Amazon usually charges for a release date delivery.

That all depends on how you group your pre-orders together if you want the free shipping over $50. For my April blu-ray pre-orders, I combined the three discs for the free shipping, but I won't receive any of the discs until April 27th. So, essentially I'll have to wait and extra week for the April 20th releases.

Don't pre-order for June, a lot of thing can happen by then.
Amazon can drop their prices, a B&N sale may start, ...
The 25% off code at Criterion is the best deal at the moment, but it might not be in the future.

My first order of some of yesterday's releases won't be arriving until tomorrow, at the earliest. But given they shipped it UPS to my P.O. Box, who knows when I'll really be getting it. They allegedly shipped it last Thursday. So, I'd say ymmv. One week plus for me... If it doesn't arrive in mint condition, they can have it right back. Not impressed.

(My dvdempire order arrived right on time, on the other hand.)

It all depends on how you group them. My pre-orders with Criterion right now are grouped into 4 or 5 separate orders. When you checkout, you can choose to have everything ship when it's available, but unless each shipment totals over $50 you're going to get charged $5.95 for every shipment.

Like others are saying, when can pre-order everything through Criterion right now with the AFS code, but we'll still have the option of cancelling any of the orders if a sale comes along. You just have to go into each order and delete each item out of it.

Well, nowhere on Criteron's site does it state that releases will be received on or before the release date, does it? It doesn't. The only statement Criterion issues on every order is that it will be shipped by the release date. So, therefore I don't see you having a valid argument with your order not arriving on the release date. If your impatience is that high, then I suggest not taking the risk with Criterion for your pre-orders. And you can always track the package with the UPS tracking # they provide for your disc orders. My March 23rd orders shipped last Thursday, as well, and were received yesterday. Criterion ships from Kentucky, so I would expect East Coast orders to be received sooner than parts out west.

What? You want me to spill the beans about the pre-release copy of Criterion's "Ran" blu-ray I obtained before they had to destroy the others in a fire?

Does anyone else have the problem that they go on Criterion's site, look at movies, want to add them all to your netflix account but cant because you already have the limit of 500 :[

I try and watch 2-3 new criterion movies a week, but it seems almost impossible to get through them all

Would the UK people and Criterion have worked from the same negative and done the transfer to digital from scratch twice? Or is there one raw transfer to digital made by the negative owner, which is then processed to different levels of competence by the two companies releasing it?

I hope it doesn't seem a strange question - just trying to understand the mechanics of such a situation.

I guess I have to buy a cheaper Region A machine to go with my heavy-duty Region B one. How many members are there here who have two machines for this reason?
Good afternoon mrmarbach

Typically, there would be one restored element, which different companies would consider working with. There are certainly quite a few exceptions with some smaller titles -- giallis and many cult films get numerous "restorations" by different parties, but these are often different "restorations" from the ones you would see for serious films such as, for example, The Double Life of Veronique or Wings of Desire.

Criterion are known for their fine-tuning. They almost always do extra work on what has been licensed to them - which is the reason why in many cases their releases tend to be more competent than those of their competitors.

I hope this helps.
