Revanche was one of the first (maybe even the first) Criterion BDs I bought blind.

Talk about a gateway drug.

Edit: Gold Star for films of the last ten years might have to go to Carlos though.

That is a seriously awesome film and release.

David Lean Directs Noel Coward - $49.99
Gomorrah - $19.99
Heaven's Gate - $24.99
Hunger - $19.99
La Haine - $19.99
Letter Never Sent -$14.99
Naked Lunch - $19.99
The Night of the Hunter - $24.99
On the Waterfront - $24.99
Revanche - $19.99
Rosemary's Baby - $19.99
The Rules of the Game - $19.99
Solaris - $19.99
Traffic - $19.99
The Wages of Fear - $19.99

Total: $447.32

Yeah, I have to cut that down to around a third of that ($150 or so).

Heaven's Gate is set in stone. I know some of the others are more "important" or "artistic" or "historical," but I don't care. The rest are in the air for me.

If anyone has a line on if any of these will be going OOP soon, then perhaps they could let me know, and that would help me decide.
Hunger, La Haine, Night Of The Hunter, On The Waterfront, Revanche, Traffic, and The Wages Of Fear!

Great pick. All fans should also pick up Poetry. What a great filmmaker is Lee Chang-dong.

Ah, of course. I just didn't remember you talking about it before . Such a great film indeed.

..and my gold star goes to Certified Copy, easily.

I bought Marketa Lazarova today, and although beautiful, I just could not get into it like I thought I would. I am offering it to trade if anyone is interested.

Wants:
Westworld
Ninja Scroll
My Neighbor Totoro
The Impossible

Oh, I meant gold star to films from the last 10 years, like we were doing above...

If it was the entire collection, it would most definitely be Paris, Texas for me (with Certified Copy close behind)

Then it has to be between Gomorrah (a great companion to Public Enemies) and Secret Sunshine.

I decided to take the plunge and pick up The Human Condition on DVD. So I fully expect Criterion to announce the Blu-ray release next Monday. I also got the First Films of Samuel Fuller Eclipse set, and 10 Blu-rays.

I swear when I bought 12 Criterions last month I only had like five more I wanted to get. But then I end up getting ten, and almost bought more. How did that happen?

If you still needed the help. A little over but those are the best of the bunch.

I ordered Shoah, Marketa Lazarova, By Brakhage, and Sansho the Bailiff. Blind buys on all but Sansho the Bailiff (I have seen a 3 or 4 Brakhage films).

Also, just finished A Hollis Frampton Odyssey the other night. The films are amazing but the package is a little frustrating in that the contextualization of the Magellan films is pretty lacking. They could have at least included his proposed Calendar.

Oh, most definitely. It's among my favorite cinematic experiences. I actually watched it twice within two weeks when I first watched it. I've just been holding out for a Blu-ray release.

I wish B&N had the Kobayashi Eclipse set.

Search for Eclipse 38. It's listed under "Masaki" rather than "Kobayashi".

I've been waiting on a price drop for the Lee Chang-dong DVD set on Amazon for awhile now. I may just have to pull the trigger on it as I don't think it will ever drop to an appealing price. .

I think the title I'm most excited for is Pierre Etaix. I'm surprised it hasn't shown up more often in people's lists and photos
