It would be low on my list. I am a sci-fi lover from way back, and love good schlocky low budget sci-fi as well was modern blockbusters. I saw Things To Come many years ago and was rather bored by it - I remember feeling it was ponderous and preachy. I admit that my memory could be a bit awry on this - but there are many films I want to see before I revisit TTC.

Watched that a few days ago and I agree wholeheartedly. I watched On the Waterfront today and while good, it didn't hold a candle to 12 Angry Men.

I havent heard much if anything at all lately or at all about these movies but they seem very well received and the director has 3 in the CC.
The Kid With A Bike is great.
La Promesse is almost as great.
Rosetta is blah.

That's kind of the impression I was getting. At first glance, the film appeared to be a cool adventure film but I guess its more of a "typical" drama. It still looks interesting, but there's so many other choices. Thanks for clearing that up.

There was literally nothing exciting about that film except my insatiable post-viewing craving for waffles.

Not supposed to be an exciting film.

More the phenomenal second half of The Grey over the first.

Thanks all for the feedback on The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934). I promise to give it a chance, even if I have to staple my eyelids open.

The biggest thing for me is the likability of the character. I don't need to support a character's actions to enjoy a film, but in the case of her, I just couldn't care for her enough to establish any emotional connection to the film. It left me cold because of that.

Hey guys. I am not sure if I am or not yet, but I am considering purchasing some Criterion's from Barnes and Noble since they have their 50% off sale going on right now. I was wondering if you guys could recommend some safe blind buys.

At the moment I am interested in ordering: Safety Last, The Following, The Man Who Knew Too Much, On The Waterfront, Bottle Rocket, The Great Dictator and Modern Times.

I am into science fiction, drama, crime, thriller, and comedy films.

If I order any, three titles would be the maximum. I am open to suggestions!

Thanks guys.

Headed to B&N with a buddy today and picked up:

Marketa Lazarova
Naked Lunch
Rushmore
The Wages of Fear
Blow Out

He grabbed:

The Following
Seven Samurai
Shallow Grave

Might end up getting Solaris and a couple more before the end of the sale. We'll see.

Yeah that was probably my biggest thing with the film, too. I also found it to be dragging on and on with nothing really accomplished. Rosetta did the same exact thing all day long, so it was like watching the same day on repeat for the entire runtime.

That is on my TBW list! I just hope that the blu-ray does not suffer from what I saw on TCM: out of sync voices with the screen.
