For those of you who have sent in the white disc from the Three Colors Trilogy for replacement, how long did it take for you to get the new disc? I mailed mine out over a week ago and haven't received any kind of response. I'm really hoping it didn't get lost in the mail.

I exchanged mine two months ago. From the time I mailed the old one off until the new one arrived was about 3 weeks. There was no communication from them that they received it. Also, it took another week after I got the corrected disc before an email showed up with a credit code for their website.

I watched about 20 criterion releases thus far and La Haine is probably top 3 for me thus far.

Oh yes, it can take a while.... up to 4 weeks for a delivery from the US. Consider yourself lucky if you get it before then, and extremely lucky if it shows up a week after shipping notice went out as happened for another member here....

Okay, thanks for the quick response. That makes me feel better.

I started Shoah last night and for those of you that are on the fence with this one, I highly recommend it. In my opinion, the sheer volume of material within this package makes it worth the purchase. I agree that the replay value may not be as high as most others, but this is truly something that everyone should see. i've only made it through the first disc, but I feel as if I've been changed just from what I've seen so far. Unexplainable evil and a period of time that will forever be recorded in shocking detail.

I have been waiting to post my July 2013 Barnes and Noble Sale shopping spree, but one of the purchases I made was Shoah with a 15% off coupon. That included with my 10% Membership discount and the fact that I purchased it in the sales tax-free state of Delaware made my grand total $38.25!

I plan on watching it once I get a week to kill. I just heard that the B&N sale is being extended one more week so that The Devil's Backbone can now be included.

Whenever I have a stack of multiple movies that are still unwatched, like on the days when I bring home a big haul from the store, I pick the film that I'm least enthusiastic to see at that particular moment, and watch it first.

I mean, I'm obviously enthused to see every film that I purchase, otherwise I wouldn't purchase it in the first place, but, whenever I have a stack of movies to watch, there are always some that ring my bells more than others. I put the ones that I'm the least enthused to see on top of the stack, and I move the ones that I am most excited to see to the back of the stack.

This helps in two regards...

1. I never have Blu-rays sitting around unwatched for long periods of time, because I'm always in a hurry to watch the ones at the top of the stack to get to the ones on the bottom of the stack that I'm especially fired up to see.

2. I always end up rediscovering the greatness of the films that I thought that I was the least enthused to see, or, if it's a first viewing of that movie, realizing that it's quite an awesome film.

Whoah...

I just purchased the Three Colors Trilogy Blu-ray set yesterday. What was wrong with the initial pressings?

If I'm not mistaken, Owl, it's an audio defect. I don't know how isolated it is, but this stopped me from initially picking this set up.

Thank you! I'll take a look at my disc when I get home. Since I bought mine from Barnes & Noble yesterday, I'm hoping that it's a corrected edition, but it's good to know what to do in the event that it is not.

Yeah, as UNC stated, it was an audio issue on "White", I believe.

Most of the copies out now have the corrected version (it should say "Second Printing" on the disc).

Should you have the wrong version, you can contact Jon Mulvaney at Criterion.com and he will send you out a replacement disc and a $10 gift card for your troubles.

Is it in stores or just online for the first week? On the website, its not showing up as a pickup in store option.... its early though.

Default Early Devil's Backbone??!

Just ordered The Devil's Backbone thru B&N. Their site claims this title is available 1 week early (starting 7/23) to B&N online customers - at the sale price of $19.99 too!

Member shipping is usually pretty fast from these guys, so unless this is some sort of BS come-on, I hope to have it by the weekend. We'll see...

In stores also, you may want to call your store when they open and see if they have stock. Sometimes Barnes website takes a while for Tuesday releases to show up and let you check store stock.

All the stores in my area only had the DVD of Devil's Backbone, despite them sending an email that the Blu-ray is in stock. They claim to be getting some this week.

The strange thing for me is that I had them hold a copy of the Devil's Backbone, The Ice Storm, and Babette's Feast. I got an email last night saying my order was ready for pickup, but it only listed the latter two titles, and not the Devil's Backbone.
