I admittedly have not seen The Red Shoes, but I've thoroughly enjoyed the two Powell/Pressburger films that I've seen, and I love the visual style in their movies.
I also admittedly have not seen Summer with Monika, but I love the Ingmar Bergman movies that I have seen, and Summer with Monika has one of the best covers in the Collection.

I've seen the other three, and they're all spot-on amazing.

Summer With Monika is excellent and is one of the Bergman's most accessible films. A personal favorite.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, but this ones going to be weighing on me for the next few days.

That in itself is a beautiful closure, because Travis fulfilled his underlying purpose. It still breaks my heart every time I see it, but I also smile.

For some reason, Paris, Texas did not get to me during my first viewing (probably because I was more focused on predicting the outcome than I was with rolling along with the feelings). Each subsequent viewing, however, packs a stronger emotional punch to my stomach.

Everything about that movie is awesome. Everything.

Absolutely breathtaking trilogy! Which of the color films is your favorite? I'm leaning on Red but I like White too. Blue I'm still on the fence about. Glad you love Blue though. Heck, I love them all.

Holy crap! Monsieur Verdoux did not disappoint. So glad I purchased this one: great subdued central performance by Chaplin, sharp black comedy, so many unforgettable scenes...it's a total winner!

I love all the films in the three colors trilogy but I always wondered why White doesn't get much attention. I think it's the most accesible of the three and has the most replay value. I guess cause it's kinda the oddball of the three. Being the only one with a male protaganist and a comedy of sorts. I think all three bring something different to the table and couldn't pick a favorite.

Honestly, I think I enjoyed White the most. It was the most beautiful one, in my opinion, and it was a very effective dark comedy.

From a "whole" perspective, it's hard to really pick a favorite, because each one does a great job at establishing the entire story. With that being said, I think Red is the most solid one, but like you said, it's hard to pick.

I'm not going to lie. When I think Three Colors I think Irene Jacob first, Juliette Binochet second and then Kieślowski (jumbled together with Kubrick and Polanski, actually) and then somewhere down the road is 'the guy in White'.

I really did like it a lot though. That was primarily where the Polanski vibe comes from, now that I think about it.

I've seen Carrie and loved it. I also picked up Dressed to Kill today, so hopefully I can squeeze that in soon. I was interested in Body Double, but couldn't suck up the $40 (after Canadian shipping).

right now just started heaven's gate and so far a very intriguing film. hopefully it continues in this manner, cause if it does i could see it being one of my favorite criterions.

I like Red best out of the three. All three films stand up well on their own terms, but Red has such a great pairing of actor talent and such an interesting setting that it stands a little taller.

I had a great time going through Blue again tonight, though. I love how we see a healing process unfold before our eyes, both in physical and emotional terms.

I miss the blissful ignorance that I had about the film's framing that I had before reading about the complaints in this forum. I never noticed when I watched the film on the Criterion DVD. I'm all good with the presentation, though.

I had a similar reaction when I saw Monsieur Verdoux last week. Glad that Criterion dusted off this controversial classic.
