ACCIDENTAL TOURIST! Watch it if you haven't already.

(I'm not a big fan of Silverado. It's just as weak as Wyatt Earp if you ask me. Hell, I may like 'Earp even more )

You should post before and after photos on the thread. That's quite an ambitious endeavor.

Then again, I might could pull this off, since I've been known to watch the televised version of Fanny and Alexander in single sittings.

I wouldn't mind seeing The Accidental Tourist. I've always been intrigued by that movie.

Wyatt Earp was too somber, and it collapsed on its own weight time and time again. Silverado had some levity in the fold, as good Westerns always should.

I'm one of the popcorn movie people who preferred Tombstone to Wyatt Earp, in all honesty.

I think you may relate to William Hurt's character in AT.

As for the bolded, I think everybody did. Wyatt Earp was a beautifully lensed film though.

I'll give it that. Wyatt Earp did have some truly memorable images.

Dennis Quaid also rocked out in that movie. He's always been one of the most underrated actors out there.

That's precisely why it's one of those rare cases where the film is better than the book

I dislike James Wan's films too. His last two have done nothing for me. Ti West's House of the Devil, on the other hand, is one of my five favorite horror films of the aughts. The film is drenched in atmosphere, yet it has a devilish sense of humor.
Glad to hear that. I'd go as far as saying it's one of my top 1 horror films of all time.

Would love to see this from Criterion. The more Alain Resnais the better!

It is the work of someone dizzily spinning out of control, but unlike something equally foolish (Southland Tales, which is flawed but inyeresting BTW), Anderson sticks his landing. Keeps things both dramatically interesting, yet dazzling like the finest opera or Scorsese film.
Is dense really a positive quality for a film? There's layered, interesting, deep, but dense? I think I'd use it to describe a film negatively.

Magnolia is good, but I'm not as wild about it as many others. I think each of Anderson's films since then are better.

Hahahah that was supposed to have a zero on the end. Top 10. I was so floored by Ti West's ability to build atmosphere.

Sorry. I posted that minutes before I fell asleep. Replace "dense" with one of your adjectives. But you know what I mean. There's just so much to unpack there. (as with There will be blood)

Awww. You got my hopes up for a second. I take it you are on the same page with me: i prefer atmosphere & mood over scares. But my Lord, the last ten minutes of HOD are Terrifying

The House of the Devil was a cool flick.

Tom Noonan is a great, great actor for that sort of role. He was outstanding in Michael Mann's Manhunter, and that movie is still my favorite adaptation of a Thomas Harris novel.

There was talk around the campfire of casting Tom Noonan as Judge Holden in an adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian, but that talk never amounted to anything. Besides, that's almost an impossible novel to adapt to the screen.

I didn't know you liked Manhunter that much.

Cormack McCarthy is a genius (from my hometown too). Are you excited for the Ridley Scott's The Counselor?

Concerning the pictures I posted of my collection, now a few pages back already, I own two copies of The Double Life of Veronique (bought the second one used at a great price, forgetting I had already bought it new in the past). The amazing irony of it being that movie that happens to be the only Criterion I've ever bought a double of is the only reason I have yet to actually sell the duplicate, lol.

You better believe it. I'm really looking forward to seeing how his screenplay pans out.

I have Cormac McCarthy's play, The Sunset Unlimited, at home, but I never saw the film adaptation.

Cool avatar.

I like the idea of someone having two copies of The Double Life of Veronique.

My Blu-ray of The Double Life of Veronique sits alone at home, and occasionally feels an strange sense of forlorn emptiness that it does not understand.

I am much more a fan of mood and atmosphere. Which reminds me, did you see the Lords of Salem?
