It has a coherent story and is a fun and extremely energetic movie. Plus it comes with more then just one movie. One of the extra's, The Last Performance, has Conrad Veidt in it. Not a exceptionally great movie, but interesting. IMO Conrad Veidt deserves to be represented in the collection more. How about a release of The Man Who Laughs or give us a blu upgrade for The Thief of Bagdad. Also I've always liked The Hands of Orlac or how about Michael Powell's The Spy in Black

Somewhat Criterion related (the Malick bloodline):
Picked up To the Wonder today and it's just such an extreme difference in packaging between it and it's CC brethren-Dull cover art, no booklet, even the disc art was , not even a slipcover.

There's actually a poster for it that looks quite similar to Criterion's artwork for The Thin Red Line that would have looked much nicer.(wish I knew how to post pictures!)

Nope! When I did a search for To the Wonder posters it came up. It looks very similar in design, even with the vertical crease, to TTRL Criterion art.

It's unfortunate that Tree of Life and 'Wonder do not come with more extras too.

The extras for The Thin Red Line are so good. I especially love the featurette with the editors.

I purchased To the Wonder today as well. I figure that, like the other recent Malick films, this Blu-ray is a temporary stopgap before an awesome Criterion edition in four or five years. I'm excited to have it no matter what, though, because it was such a beautiful movie at the theater.

Since today is Olga Kurylenko Day, as per my official designation, I also bought a copy of Oblivion, which I also enjoyed at the theater. It's a derivative sci-fi flick, but it's also one of the coolest-looking movies that I've seen in recent memory. I have a feeling that the Blu-ray will get a lot of mileage here.

Right now, though, I'm watching my Blu-ray of Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt. Go figure.

When I read you post that today is Olga Day, I feared the worst: that you bought Oblivion. Shame on you, Owl. That's the most derivative sci fi flick to come down the poke in quite some time.

Derivative, but a lot of fun. The first hour is really quite awesome, since it has The Last Man on Earth/The Omega Man vibe going for it. The M83 soundtrack is beautiful as well. The last hour is guilty pleasure fare.

Admittedly, though, the favorable picture quality reviews of the Blu-ray pushed me over the edge. I loved the look of Oblivion when I saw it in the theater, and am looking forward to seeing how it carries over on disc.

Do tell after you've seen the film. I've always loved the Jack Kerouac novel.

I have no interest in seeing the film, but from the little I've seen it does look pretty amazing...I must say.

Trust me, it's awesome. Great, great film, Brandon looks like he could easily someday be almost as good as David. I would be highly surprised if Brandon never makes a film that gets the Criterion treatment.
