EDIT: I forgot the novel was included! That's why. Even still, maybe a BD-only release will slim it up some.

On a side note, I'm very excited about re-watching The Grand Budapest Hotel, my favorite movie of the year thus far (that is, if The Wolf of Wall Street counts as a 2013 film). My Amazon pre-order says it will arrive today!
Yeah, that case is obnoxiously large. I like the dual format editions, but I don't like all of the huge packaging. Why couldn't they have just included the blu ray with the special features, and just have one DVD, regardless of what they could fit on it? Or maybe have a digital copy on the DVD as well. I liked the idea of dual format Criterion, but their dedication to making all of the content available on the DVDs created brutal, flimsy digipacks.

Well it's gonna be big if it includes the book! That has nothing to do with dual format, even if this was just bluray it will still have book and be big.

Also none of my dual format digipak a are flimsy - they are really high quality.

I'm really hoping that we get Short Cuts announced. And Mulholland Dr. Or Eraserhead would be pretty sick. There are a ton or Bergman and Kurosawa already. Not much Felini, but personally I didn't think that 8 1/2 lived up to the hype, and I have lost interest in seeing more of his films. More Tarkovsky, particularily Stalker, would be nice. And what about classic Canadian film Goin' On Down the Road? That breaks would be incredible. They could include the SCTV satire and the weird sequel as extras!

Ace In The Hole is a very nice package.

Nah, student films wouldn't have that much restraint.

I guess it depends on your definition of story. I found it a moving and fascinating character study, which in itself can very much be "story." But I can also see why others might find it boring. You probably don't want to watch Taste of Cherry, then, lol.

Default Criterion Half 1/2 Off Sale

I started a new Thread called Criterion Sales (or something like that), hoping that people would post JUST information about the Criterion Sales at Criterion, Barnes & Nobel and Amazon, and it disappeared over the weekend.

I looked around and couldn't find a Rule that doesn't allow this kind of Thread... so I'm curious... Are we not allowed to start such a Thread?

Did you start it in the Deals subforum? There's generally a thread devoted to each specific sale (here, for example) (not so much the flash sale from CC) that people will ignore as they choose.

You're in the UK, correct? Have you not picked up the blu-ray released by Eureka? Also, Blue Underground released it on DVD over here in the US if you're looking for another option.

The UK blu is region free if Criterion don't announce an upgrade.

At first glance I just saw, "todays announcements" and "Meet the Feebles." I nearly fell out of my chair!
