I just placed a solid Barnes & Noble pre-order, but not for Criterions...

The Time Machine (1960)
Point Blank
Southern Comfort
Caught (1949)

My old DVDs of the first three received heavy rotation under my roof, meaning that I used to revisit all of them at least twice a year. Caught looks to be another killer film noir from Olive, and it'll be nice to have another Max Ophüls film in my collection.

I'm going to wait until payday on July 15 to make a dent in the Barnes & Noble down the street, since Scanners and Pickpocket will both be released that day. I'll probably pick up A Hard Day's Night at the same time unless I suddenly decide to buy it sooner.

Whoops, I thought I typed that, too.

I still would say that one of the subtle themes of the films is romance, or the lack of romance, for that matter. The films truly explore the individual and part of that individual is the relationships they have with others.

I'm still on the fence about Judex. I feel as though I should watch the old serial before checking out the film, just so that I'll get the full vibe. Not sure when or if that will happen, though.

I love Franju's Eyes Without a Face, though.

Didn't realise it was same director - Just watched a clip and it sold it to me, looks brilliant

Green for Danger was an awesome movie, I'd be OK with an upgrade

I actually enjoyed Judex a lot more than Eyes Without a Face - for what it's worth.

I have a feeling you will like it. It's a stylishly, cool film.

I usually choke during the B&N Criterion sale, but I just said "Eff it" and decided to have a little fun and get a couple titles I've been wanting for a while.

Ordered
The Night of the Hunter
Picnic at Hanging Rock
and pre-ordered Scanners.

Only one of the bunch I haven't seen was "PaHR". It'll be a good viewing night when they all get in hand.

Is that why you were banned from amazon? Packaging complaints?

My copy of Scanners should be hear friday/saturday - really excited to see transfer as its drastically different in the screenshots comparisons I've seen, so be nice to see who it looks in context.

Oh and Picnic release is AWESOME.

Yeah, well I sent to many items back for refunds (stupid reason as they were legit and shockingly bad), also sellers seemed fine with me sending back for refund/replacements - and also when I spoke to Amazon support they were the ones that advised me to get a refund >.<!

I have bought roughly 700 items on Amazon in a year so can't really blame me for having more faulty goods than normal (roughly 20ish)...

But I am not accepting an item I am paying full whack for that is advertised as new, and for it to come torn in half and falling about XD.

My copy of Thin Red Line came sliced in half with a knife, as did Letters Never Sent >.< - I just don't get it.

Rock solid choices on all counts as is Diabolique that Polaroid mentioned.

But you simply MUST add Wages of Fear to this list as well. Starts out so very slow but then the tension slowly starts to build and never stops.

Love this movie.

Love this movie.

First time I watched this I thought the first half was a drag, then, upon second viewing one day by chance on TV I understood it, set the tone great for the "journey"

I just find it unacceptable beings end faulty/damaged goods when paying full price, why should I settle for less and make do with it when I am buying BRAND NEW item that has had so much time and care put into its creation.

Yeah he's pretty annoying - loves trying to bring everyone around here down and piss us off, oh well - some people just don't have anything better to do with their time.

Smile Couple Opinion Questions

Whats everyones opinions on

Identification of a Woman - I dig Antonioni but many of the reviews says its FAR from his best work.

And

Eyes without A Face - I love Judex but usually horror is a genre I enjoy watching once and then it just loses something. Is this truely horror or more psychological thriller? Its seems a bit more thrillerish but I could be way off.
