I think they'll give us a big release or box set in November. Something like the Faith Trilogy or the Before Trilogy (a long shot but you never know) will be awesome.

Just out of curiosity, which decade is the most represented by your Criterion Collection? Which one is your list represented? My most represented are the 1950s and my least represented are the 1920s.

Total of Criterion films: 80

1950: 25

1960: 12

1930: 9

1990: 9

1940: 8

2000: 5

1980: 4

1970: 3

2010: 3

1920: 2

Are you referring to the Bergman trilogy of Through a Glass Darkly, Winter Light, and The Silence? I would be all over that on day one. Those are some of the most beautiful and meaningful films in the entire collection, IMO.

I can smell a Chaplin film coming in November. I hope they upgrade L'Avventura, as well.

most box sets i have are from around 60's and 70's so they influence the list a lot.

My money is on the Faith trilogy - which would be awesome. I'm hoping they upgrade Short Cuts at some point too (which I believe they still have the rights for). That was/is a fantastic DVD set.

An upgrade of 49TH PARALLEL would be nice. I have recently enjoyed this movie a lot and more Powell/Pressburger on Blu-ray is always a good option. Besides the bonus of the BBC documentary A Pretty British Affair was a treat by itself.

I just had a thought the big November release could be:

[Show spoiler]The Adventures of Antoine Doinel

That reminds me. A week ago, I was down in Massachusetts and made a brief stop at a B&N there. I freaked when I saw a copy of The Adventures of Antoine Doinel sitting amongst the Criterion Blu-rays. Turned out to be the DVD set, misfiled.

I wrote the liner notes for a recent Blu-ray release of Richard Fleischer's Violent Saturday, and referred to that as a Film Soleil. It's a sun kissed invasion of the noir, usually set out West, and I cited films like Bad Day At Black Rock as comparable.

Holy F---, I'm pissed. I came home from a long day at work to find out that my roommate or his girlfriend bumped into boxes of movies that I had been packing as I'll be moving out over then next 2 months and that they had spilled water onto them and then haphazardly thrown them back into the box. 11 Criterions water damaged. Roughly $440 worth of damage. Anger is just flowing through my veins. They need to come up with $220 so I can replace them in the flash sale.

Damn, I cannot describe how ready I am to be done with roommate life.

I had that pinned for October, as it's Truffaut's 30th Anniversary that month.

Wouldn't the Hellman Westerns box-set tick the box of "Big November Release"?
