If doing Time Bandits on BD, close out the trilogy with a Criterion BD of Adventures of Baron Munchausen, and add Jabberwocky as an extra.

Criterion posted some new posters for Rome Open City on Instagram. Perhaps the War Trilogy will be the November box set

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and responses regarding the trauma of damaged items.

My roommate doesn't understand about the damage caused and thinks that I'm making a bigger deal than I should, but he is willing to pay the replacement costs of the covers from Criterion so I've sent an email out to them. Hopefully, they will help me out.

Cheers.

Don't be silly - I would NEVER accept damaged goods when advertised a brand new, thats why i am banned form Amazon haha!

But seriously, you have every right to be upset/complain because you are handing over your hard earned money for an item advertised as new, why should you accept any less.

This goes for any purchase not just Criterions, I once complained cause I bought Haribo star mix and only had 2 eggs, Haribo gave me a £1 refund and also sent a large packet of just eggs haha

Ditto. I've been in touch with B&N about it numerous times over the last 2+ years, both on the phone and through email. It's still a mystery. If you figure out what's going on, I'd love to know.

Does anyone know of any plans for Criterion to eventually release their Eclipse label on Blu-ray?

Personally I'd like to see Criterion attempt to get back the NA rights to the Ealing Studio films. Studiocanal and Lionsgate only released The Ladykillers and nothing else while the UK has a boxset.

Also while they are at it I want Blood for Dracula back, that movie cracks me up. Not to mention Clouzot's Le Corbeau. Frustrating to say the least.

Also, regarding the ARINS debate, I still have a hard time believing it could stand for The Big Chill, considering there was already another clue (the people dancing). I'm going to keep it for now. Hopefully we know soon haha.
I was surprised Like Father Like Son was not a Criterion title. A Raisin in the Sun could still be correct also, the recent Broadway Revival may have sparked new interest in it. What about Watership Down? Is it not going to be a mainstream Criterion title?

Great lists, the moderator should make them "sticky". It would avoid many questions people may have.

It's usually the 15th.
And it's 15th here already, but i guess it's another 22-23 hours until the announcement.
(not that I would be interested in anything like most of the times I guess, but i can only hope)

edit: On a sidenote, Hitchcock's Young and innocent is coming in UK from Network.

Does that mean that it could be released by Criterion too?

Just finished watching Le Deuxieme souffle. It took me a little while to get into it, and truthfully Melville could have probably cut 10-15 minutes out of the first act, but from the centerpiece heist onwards the film stands up against Melville's best works.

Also caught up with Leon Morin, Priest last night, which I was less taken with, but still very much enjoyed for the central relationship between Emmanuelle Riva and Jean-Paul Belmondo. However, I do feel as though the other elements of Riva's character's life (namely her relationship with her daughter and Sabine) could have been more fully fleshed out.

That being said, here's how I'd rank the seven Melville films I've seen:

1. Le Doulos
2. Army of Shadows
3. Le Samourai
4. Le Deuxieme souffle
5. Bob le flambeur
6. Le Cercle Rouge
7. Leon Morin, Priest

Hoping to catch up with the two Melville's on Hulu Plus as well as Two Men in Manhattan and Un Flic this weekend. Any thoughts on these films?

Thank you

Is there any chance that Criterion could still put out Like Father, Like Son on Blu-ray?

Also, regarding Watership Down, it's very possible. There are a lot of films that have been released between both iTunes and Hulu that are not on Blu-ray and do not seem to be for quite some time - if at all.

I doubt Criterion would release it only on Blu ray. MPI probably has the exclusive Home Entertainment rights, for now. I'm curious about why Criterion passed on it though.

Ahhh didn't see that haha my bad!

But OMG I would kick them out/move out, or get them to cover the rent till it is paid off!

They may just be DVD;s/Blurays to roommate/girlfriend but they are valuable to the owner, if he damaged something of his roommates he'd be just as pissed probably - some people lack respect :/

Feel so bad for him, i'd be distraught - but surely this could come under home insurance?

Definitely.

The possibility of more Koreeda seems very promising from Criterion so passing up on such a hot, fresh new film seems weird.
