It's as real as I imagine anyone with a slight knowledge of PhotoShop can make. It's rumored to be coming down the line, but there's been no official announcement or release date from Criterion. If, and when, it does come, though, I'm sure that the same DVD cover art will, indeed, be recycled for the blu-ray.

I am tempted to blind buy Pierrot Le Fou. It looks very interesting from the description, hmm....

I generally enjoy Godard films, but that one is probably my least favorite films he's done. Still a decent film though.

I loved the film and the Blu-ray release but then again I'm biased towards '60s Godard films.

Kndy, I saw your new shrine pic. I have that Richard Brody/Godard book. It's a fav of mine (no surprise). I wish he was on every Criterion Godard film. I like his Made In USA piece with Colin MacCabe.

And for the reviewers that said the Criterion blu of Red Desert sucks, they suck. It looked great to me, though I don't have the BFI. I'm not one to judge the differences anyways. The Criterion looks really good in movement, so that is all I care about.

Strongly recommend against doing that. I love Criterion blu-rays (have watched all but 4-5 of them, and have loved them all with 2 exceptions: 1. The Man Who Fell to Earth, and 2. Pierrot Le Fou). Recommend renting first, if you have Netflix.

Some people don't like it. But take it from someone who has seen alot of Godard films over and over, and I would say I love it.

Let's just say, if you like 400 Blows and 8 1/2 (which I see you own), Pierrot le fou gives those films the finger on the road to Awesome Films Land.

Give in to temptation. It's a film that gets better with each viewing and it's lot of fun. Plus, the Blu-ray is marvelous

I know! I couldn't believe it myself. I've ordered from them off and on since i started buying blu's, but it was usually two weeks tops. My shipping email even told me it would take 6-10 business days. Stoked and surprised, for sure.

Ahhh...you are on their good list. Hehe... At first I was getting them like 3-4 weeks (Media Mail) but since I have been purchasing more often, now I get them within a week or so. But I guess it varies...

So, just got finished watching the last of the June 30th OOP titles I had yet to see. My general sentiments:

Worth owning:

The Milky Way - 9/10
Touchez pas au grisbi - 8/10
A Woman Is a Woman - 8/10
That Obscure Object of Desire - 8/10

Worth seeing, but pass on owning:

Billy Liar - 7/10
Diary of a Chambermaid - 6/10
The Phantom of Liberty - 7/10

Of the other four, I already own the Anchor Bay release of Kind Hearts and Coronets (10/10), and had already seen the other three and made the decision to pass on owning (The Man Who Fell to Earth - 8/10, The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie - 7/10, Bob le flambeur - 8/10).

I find it interesting that of the Buñuel films I liked The Milky Way the most; usually people dismiss it as the weaker of his latter films listed here. I found it utterly fascinating for nearly all of its sequences, which I just couldn't say about Discreet Charm and Phantom. Perhaps this has to do with some of my larger knowledge of Christianity, since I got certain things like the baby names being from Hosea. As Buñuel goes, That Obscure and Diary are slightly different types of films than those three, of course.

"Diary of a Chambermaid - 6/10"

I would give this one a 9/10 myself. It gets better each time I see it.

For some odd reason Billy Liar drives me crazy, I still have the DVD because of the commentary track. I love Julie Christie. One MGM title I wish Criterion would get hold of is DARLING. They could really do a great edition of that title.
