Here's my final haul photo (excluding the Jean Vigo release which I just bought today on B&N's site):

I bought a total of 13 Criterion releases.

I already opened and watched 4 of the 12 releases pictured here.

I have the original Warner out of print Dreams DVD and its an amazing film, esp. seeing Scorcese in it.
Nice. If you watch it soon, let me know what you thought of it. I might still pick it up.

I have the Warner DVD release of 'Dreams', as well; one of my favorite films. I really wish it would get the Criterion treatment. It would look so beautiful with a fresh 4K remaster on blu-ray. As a matter of fact, Warner needs to get off of their asses and either release 'The Big Sleep' and 'Dreams' on blu-ray, or license the rights for both to Criterion lol.

It is. I feel that Kagemusha can be regarded as a sort of dry run for Ran in terms of the scope and tone (not short changing it in any way). It has a great performance from Tatsuya Nakadai who is my favorite Kurosawa star - Mifune is more charismatic but IMO Nakadai is more of a chameleon that can really disappear into a role. CC's Kagemusha blu-ray is also remarkable for a fantastic commentary by Kurosawa expert Stephen Prince - he goes into great detail into the historical context of the film along with its artistic qualities, which makes it an essential listen.

Thanks for the info. I was really hoping that would be the case.

Looking at his filmography, I think the only things I've seen Nakadai in have been 'Yojimbo' and 'Ran', and a bit part I don't really remember in 'Seven Samurai' (I still have yet to see 'Sanjuro'.) I do have to rank his performance in 'Ran' up there with Mifune's in 'Seven Samurai', even though the characters they were playing were on opposite ends of the spectrum. I think I'll make 'Kagemusha' my next Criterion buy

I've taken a step back from Criterion, just can't afford them at the moment (so sad!).

Eureka! had a sale and I went a but nuts though and spent a fortune... but got loads of my money. But I am happy, got loads of awesome film to watch and distract me with, and many that I wanted Criterion to upgrade but haven't, which I now have!

I think I may have a job! so soon I WILL BE BACK Got a HUGE backlog of new Criterion releases I want

But must add, Eureka! are such a great company ^^ and it really is nice supporting another company like Eureka! alongside Criterion

I actually think I liked Kagemusha more than Ran (Although both are top 5 Kurosawas for me). I'm working my way through all 30 of them before watching the PBS documentary. Seven more to go...

I ended up with 15 releases:

The Essential Jacques Demy - received
La Dolce Vita - received
The Red Shoes - received
Macbeth - received
Tess - received
The Uninvited - somewhere in the mail
Ivan's Childhood - received
The Makioka Sisters - received
The Mikado - somewhere in the mail
Beauty and the Beast - somewhere in the mail
It Happened One Night - somewhere in the mail
To Be or Not to Be - somewhere in the mail
The Ministry of Fear - somewhere in the mail
Red River BF purchase - just shipped yesterday
My Darling Clementine CM purchase - will ship tomorrow

I bought all my Christmas presents in October, and only have groceries to buy this month. Junking my old car and getting all but 22 bucks covered for my glasses also helped.

Well, I was weak for a second time during the sale. Used my 30% off coupon earlier in the sale to get Love Streams. Then used the Cyber Monday 25% off coupon to pick up Cassavetes: Five Films. It's a Cassavetes haul for this sale.

He's a living legend, regardless of what some people think of him.
I think I like Cul-de-Sac more than most. It's certainly not his best,
[Show spoiler]but I love the way the shifts in power occur. The constant vying for power and the way that affects group dynamics is a concept he often visits: Knife in the Water, Cul-de-Sac, Death and the Maiden.
Man, Death and the Maiden would make a great addition to the 'Collection.

I actually had that happen a couple weeks ago with a CD. Was worried the people at Best Buy wouldn't let me do an exchange. They just laughed and did it no problem. Was a first for me as well.

I had that happen in 2009 when I bought season 2 of Criminal Minds. The only reason why Future Shop allowed the exchange was because on my receipt, I had also bought Seasons 1 and 3 along with it, because, admittedly, it probably looked really suspicious to go in and exchange a 6-disc box set that had 0 discs in it. I also had to go to another Future Shop because the one I bought it from didn't have any in stock, which didn't make things easier.

I always open my DVDs/BDs as soon as possible, even if I'm not going to be watching them right away. I want to make sure the discs are there for when I do wish to do so.

Yeah. You should do that. Pissed me off. And it was one of the huge ones I was wanting to get from the sale.
I threw the receipt away but still have the wrapper on that has the token Barnes and Noble price sticker.
Officially scared FOREVER now with this happening again

You can use bank statements as proof of purchase if you don't have receipt (not sure if you can in America, but in UK you can, if the refuse you can contact trading standards).
