No February sale this year? That sucks.

CC doesn't have any releases next week, so optimists will hope for a March sale this year!

I need some advice on what to buy when the next dividend check comes.

I'll definitely get Don't Look Now on Criterion, and probably one or two others.

Here are my potential purchases:

Passion of Joan of Arc MOC steel book
Hail Mary from Cohen
A Man Escaped Criterion (already own the Gaumont blu-ray)
An Autumn Afternoon Criterion
My Darling Clementine Criterion
Letter from an Unknown Woman from Olive
Late Autumn BFI
The Soft Skin Criterion
Cria Cuervos BFI
La Cienaga Criterion

So many choices, but I think I could only choose up to two more to buy at the same time I get Don't Look Now. None would be a blind buy for the record. There are other tempting purchases I'm sure, but I'll start with what I listed above.

Viridiana's come out on blu-ray here in France, but perhaps I should wait for Criterion to upgrade that one. I also kind of feel the same way about Cria Cuervos, but the MOC release of The Passion of Joan of Arc is probably good enough that I wouldn't feel the need to double dip if Criterion were to upgrade it. As a rule, I don't double dip if both MOC or BFI and Criterion release the same film.

The October Flash Sale used to be a September Flash Sale so that would be my guess.

If you're even considering Joan of Arc, I'd say get it. The steelbook is beautiful. I think it's unlikely that any eventual Criterion release will better the MOC in any substantial way. Easily one of my favorite releases of the past couple of years.

Personal note: I first saw TPoJoA at the High Museum in Atlanta sometime in the 1990s, it was shown silent, without any accompaniment, as apparently per Dreyer's wishes, but with this unusual twist: the 35mm print had French title cards, so someone stood off to the side and read an English translation of the cards as they came up! Certainly a unique experience for me.

I have 12 criterions in my cart right now, so it better if someone at criterion doesn't want to get hurt

Thanks for the input. Yes, I think it'll be Don't Look Now Criterion BD, The Passion of Joan of Arc steel book and one other one. For the other one, it's a toss up between My Darling Clementine, An Autumn Afternoon, and Hail Mary, from Criterion, Criterion, and Cohen respectively. So I'll have to make up my mind on that.

It should still let you order them, even if they don't have the sale.

I like how the front page at Criterion.com refers to An Autumn Afternoon as being available on blu-ray for "the first time". When I buy the Criterion version it will be the 3rd time I've bought the film on blu-ray.

Same here, except that it's already on it's way. I have 3x Tokyo Story as well.

Except for the Voices of Light score, but the Moc will probably be the only one with the other 2 choices of score so i don't have a problem double dipping for that film.

if the flash sale had been today, what would have been the new release that would have sold out most quickly? I guess it would be Don't Look Now, but I'm happy that they've pushed it off a week (or more) I hope that The Soft Skin will be available when they do it. I wanna pick up the new Godard, too, but I think that is the type of title that can be had for $16(ish) on eBay in a month to 6 weeks or so.

I would guess the Flash Sale will be next week sometime. Today we will probably get the monthly newsletter and a new drawing clue.

Off-topic, but in case you haven't yet, Leonard Nimoy passed away earlier today.
