The color timing on the Studio Canal Collection blu-ray is allegedly closer to Melville's vision. J-P Melville liked the blue tint.

Le Cercle Rouge isn't "botched," but the color timing is probably a little warmer than it should be.

And, once again, Criterion's The Leopard is in the correct aspect ratio. It was shot Super Technirama 70 which gives a negative ratio of 2.55:1 with projection ratios of 2.20:1 for 70 mm and 2.35:1 for 35 mm.

If you're that certain about The Leopard, then maybe that will take precedent over the Passion of Joan of Arc MOC steel book, which I'll invariably buy eventually, because my Pathe Leopard disc is QOL!

QOL? I did an internet search to find out what that might mean, and the only definition I could find was "Quality of Life" ... which makes no sense whatsoever in the context of your post. Illuminate me, PDQ IYP!

QOL is a French manufacturer that's also had disc rot problems. It's the French Sonopress.

A few Criterion films / directors. See how you do.
64/100. Apparently, I'm a D student when it comes to identifying directors lol.

Criterion.com's sale must be right around the corner as I see Amazon.com is lowering the price of many Criterion titles.

I would definitely recommend you watch them on Netflix/ huluplus. I know they get a lot of praise around here, but I thought close-up was one of the worst criterion releases I have ever watched and certified copy I thought I was really good, but it is definitely a very cerebral film that I could see someone either loving or hating. I still have like someone in love in my queue but have prioritized other films due to the rave around close-up and my dislike of it

I don't think that's any indicator, it looks like it's just a Wes Anderson sale.

Ah, yes it is (just Wes Anderson, that is). I guess when I see Amazon drop their prices, I automatically figure it's because somebody else dropped their prices first (or soon will).

I'd give it until Thursday, if it doesn't happen by then we're probably out of luck.

I was thinking about blind buying it but read in one of the essays on Criterion.com that there's some animal cruelty so that immediately destroyed my interest. Just a heads up if you care about that sort of thing.

Shouldn't have to be. I'm not pro and I have no problem seeing it.

Watership Down is an excellent release. The film looks and sounds terrific. The interview with Rosen is very good. del Toro's interview is terrific. It's equally informative and passionate. The man really knows his film history. I still need to view the storyboards.

Why the EFF had no one told me Philip Gass had scored The Thin Blue Line...!??!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!

Watching on Netflix and this is a HUGE selling point for me - very excited to see this and look like another addition to my collection!

HOLD UP!

This is the same guy who did A Brief History of Time?!?!?! SOLD.

In my head I thought The Thin Blue Line was some comedy flick... lol don't ask me why.

Edit again...

I thought it was the TV comedy haha.... my bad lol.
