I did not notice that, but I do remember a couple of instances in which random images are thrown into the film.

Ironically enough, I started watching the film several months ago and shut it off after approximately an hour or so because I had no clue what was going on. With today's viewing, I seemed to understand the film for the most part, although I definitely don't think I understand it 100%, especially with some of the conversations that each individual had with one another nor in terms of symbology.

Woo-hoo!!! More Gilliam!!!

Also, TCM is playing Carol Reed's 'Odd Man Out' tonight at 7 CDT, if anyone who hasn't seen it wanted to check it out before the blu-ray release next month.

Found it in the notes section here:

apparently he is the director, and seems to be on the original negative.

I kinda like that he snuck into the film :-)

ML is one of my favourite discoveries in the collection, it's a mesmerizing film with so much replay value.

As much as I enjoyed it, I honestly can't see myself watching it again.

Oh fair enough :-) I just think there is so much to discover and explore, even revisiting for the music, visuals and atmosphere.

I found it an incredible experience :-)

I guess the lesson here is if you think you want Head, get it while you can.
I LOL'ed at the adolescent entendre.

I've wondered why upon every announcement the images they release for the Blu-ray editions are initially more DVD proportioned in height-width ratio, they're skinnier. And then later they're updated to be wider and look more like Blu-ray size. Why not just do that from the beginning?

There's going to be a lot of unhappy people if Head is no longer available.
I couldn't get $10 for it, so there may be some buyers at $50 if oop.

I just opened up my copy of The Great Beauty, and one of my favorite parts of the packaging is the eye on the inside of the box (on the inside of the outer spine). It's been too long since I saw the film (with many films in between) so I don't remember if that means anything or if a character looked through a keyhole or something, but it's a fun little thing to see. I had to do a double-take just to make sure I was actually seeing it.

I've also begun watching Valerie and Her Week of Wonders and I'm not really feeling it, but I'll certainly finish it and see if my mind changes.

I finally watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button a few nights ago for the very first time. I still am not sure how I feel about this film. At times it reminded me a bit of Forrest Gump for some odd reason. David Fincher is such a dark-minded director, and the film wasn't exactly as warm as it could have been. Sure, it was incredibly epic. But even though the Criterion sells for super cheap ($10 or something?!), I don't feel the need to add this to my collection. The adaptation from F. Scott Fitzgerald was good but I just didn't resonate with this film. It's got some amazing special effects at times, but Brad Pitt's character was so distancing and cold and talked oddly low-key for most of the time. He seemed lethargic for some reason. It added to the "coldness" of Fincher's film. Yet, there were times I was genuinely moved emotionally and was in awe of the filmmaking. It brought back tragic/depressing memories of women who I passed up or lost my opportunity with because of bad timing or personal stupidity. That discomfort alone empowered my experience of the film that I can't quite justify, and I guess this is what makes it so brilliant. Yet at the same time, I was left more empty and cold at the end of the story and for that reason I cannot say its a movie I would want to watch multiple times.

The artwork on the Fisher King is by Angel Ortiz, who is a pretty famous contemporary American artist. Ortiz is well-known in his own right but is probably most famous for his partnership with Keith Haring, who produced some of the most iconic graffiti art of the 1980s.

I think it's apt to feature work by a street artist on the cover for this particular film, and I think the piece chosen represents the film well. The use of this kind of art also harks back to the films original marketing too.

From Janus Film's FaceBook.

I'm wondering if the film will be released in the future as the films Janus usually promotes seems to be future contenders.

Well, it's past business hours for Criterion so mark this as Day 2 I still haven't heard back from them about the damaged movies they sent me, and Day 4 overall.
