I finished watching Don't Look Now, and this is the 2nd time I ever seen this film, and
[Show spoiler]the prolonged death throes of Donald Sutherland's charachter is always disturbing.
Great film, I wonder if the Italian actors who played the cardinal and the detective were ever in any Italian horror films. They're both definitely creepy.

We watched Vinterberg's The Celebration in class today and this is a film that I certainly wouldn't mind getting a spine. Incredibly dark, but incredibly powerful.

Does anyone know if Criterion will release their current duel-format films in single disc, as in just Blu-ray?

Nope, but I doubt that I'd like it as I despise LvT.

So far Vinterberg is 2/2 for me with The Celebration and The Hunt.

I'm wondering if this will be a new standard, of reissuing their dual format digipacks into plastic Scanavo containers? Is there a reason why these are the only films that were selected for blu-ray-only releases? Or perhaps its the start of a new sea change of converting dual-format releases?

If anyone can shed light on this, I'd be curious to know. (I know these kinds of questions have been asked a billion times).

It was already heavily rumored, but the American Cinematheque's upcoming screening of Orson Welles' Shakespeare masterpiece Chimes at Midnight is credited to Janus. Which makes a Criterion release before year's end (maybe at the same time as Othello?) pretty likely.

A UK Blu-Ray release from Mr. Bongo is confirmed for June 29th.

Expected this, but still stoked. Oooh, a Falstaff and Othello box would be a true treasure.

I would bet that these three have sold out of their current pressing, which is why they've got re-issued as Blu-ray only. As the remaining dual-format releases sell out, they will be re-issued as Blu-ray only releases.

That's my guess, too.
I wonder if the massive DF digipack such as The Red River being released in Blu-ray only with the book intact, though. Maybe it will be a 2 disc amaray without the book?

Ahhhh poops haha! Glad you like The Celebration though, very unique film :P Tbh I think The Idiots can come across as very offensive if you don't get Lar's humour and stuff.

But it doesn't bother me at all and I think its pretty awesome, the acting seems so real in Idiots, its pretty much a documentary haha.

I recall seeing a regular version of Red River without the book at Costco.

The Apu Trilogy Trailer from Janus:

I can't believe how incredible these films look, especially after knowing how much damage was done to them.
