I'm very tempted to double dip on Moonrise Kingdom, but other than that it would only be Blind Chance for me. And for that I'm tempted to wait to see if Artificial Eye does their usual style of box set with that, The Scar, Camera Buff and No End - which have been restored as well.

Picked up Night Train to Munich last night in the B&N 40% sale. Surprisingly, for a fan of Carol Reed I've never seen it. Could have waited until next month but impatience got the better of me. Would love to see Our Man in Havana get the Criterion treatment.

Night Train to Munich is such a fun movie. I'd love to see an upgrade at some point.

Best lines from the movie:

Sugar: [admiring a large fish trophy] What is it?

Junior: It's a member of the herring family.

Sugar: A herring? Isn't it amazing how they get those big fish into those little glass jars?

Junior: They shrink when they're marinated.

November is usually the big month. A box set and lots of high-profile titles, typically.

Maybe the Before trilogy then?
I don't want it for myself but for a friend that loves these films.

Just some predictions for the rest of the year. There will be more titles but I'm just going with what's likely for the rest of the year that we already know:

October
Mulholland Drive
Othello
The Brood
Cure

November
Speedy
The Apu Trilogy
The New World

December

Koker Trilogy
Inside Llewyn Davis

Will definitely be getting Moonrise Kingdom and A Room with a View come B&N's November sale. Real nice seeing the James Ivory picture getting a spine, tho I wish Criterion was able to get the rights to The Remains of the Day as well instead of ******* Twilight Time!

There's always the cheap region free Sony UK blu-ray as an alternative if the price is what you're quibbling about.

Is that confirmed? Though you're most likely right, it's a big release and they haven't worked on it long enough.

When it was initially confirmed at the SCMS Conference in Montreal, Criterion said 2016.

How do we know how long they've worked on it?

I hope something like this is right.

I'm fine with the September releases, but as we were talking a few pages ago, I buy everything and usually enjoy it. There's been a lot of hate about yesterday, here and elsewhere, and I agree that there is no oomph. What's funny is I was looking at how strong September 2014 was, and this one just doesn't measure up.

I wonder if the "kinks" from Monday were because they had to pull a title (maybe one with a blue key from a notoriously ornery director?) and used one of of the back burner titles as a replacement. Maybe something that has been on Hulu for a year.

Pro-B
I think Kieslowski was a pretty damn good director, but the above does not sound like a ringing endorsement for this new addition to the CC.

A Short Film About Killing, on the other hand, will leave first time viewers' jaws on the floor. I haven't seen the longer version, but the 55 minute Decalogue version is just ridiculous. No amount of hyperbole can describe how good it is.

I see nothing wrong with the September titles. Basically I think Criterion does a great job every month. They always have a nice mixture of new, old, foreign language, Indie, Cult, Classic, and Hollywood films. Lately they have offered superb upgrades with 2k and 4k remasters of films that never looked better. Not sure what the complainers are looking for each month, but I am always happy with Criterions efforts and look forward to what they have coming up.
