So, the best chance for it to get a BD release is through Criterion, it would seem
I would think best chance is to go Region Free. I'll be picking up the UK blu

I thought Midnight Cowboy was confirmed? A Brighter Summers Day has been on the cards for a while. I wish they would bring it out already! Can't wait to see a cleaned up version of El Sur as well.

Not confirmed. And quite frankly I'm not convinced that the clue in question even is Midnight Cowboy.

Oh i missed that, sorry. You can get "Women in the Dunes" and "Face of another" from the UK. (Released by BFI and EUREKA) UK DVD of Pitfall seems OOP.

Agreed. It's a good example of how an incorrect guess became a rumor then became a confirmation.

I know the ill sore possum thing gets a lot of flack but I'm pretty convinced that's what it was. Criterion have done clues that aren't exactly literal before (the one that comes to mind is the 4 C's for the Qatsi trilogy).

On another topic, I remember seeing someone who had compiled a spreadsheet of all the titles available on the different Criterion platforms (Hulu, iTunes) that aren't yet on BD. Has anyone seen it recently?

The movie of course is amazing, but the contrast is horrible and the whole thing is blurred out with very little detail. Even the audio sounds muffled and could benefit from a restoration and uncompressed track.

Pitfall was for me a one-time watch. Interesting, but rough around the edges and had pacing issues. The other two films are genuinely excellent, WiTD of course a bonafide classic.

I don't think I'd heard about The Graduate! Terrific news, probably my favorite American film of the 1960s.

Have Criterion ever confirmed what the clues actually mean after the title has been released? I'm pretty sure that that clue was not for Midnight Cowboy either and Il Sorpasso came out in the right timeframe of that clue being released. Look at the clue for Nashville, it was "Grand Ole Osprey", sometimes the clues are just silly like that.

In the immediate discussion of CC's Fuller/Wenders Instagram image, a handful of people mentioned that A Fuller Life could likely be a supplement on a forthcoming release.

Some speculation based on the updated rumor roundup: A Fuller Life as a supplement on a forthcoming reissue of Pickup on South Street.

Seems like a no-brainer. Both films could easily fit onto one disc, based on their combined runtimes, and Pickup meets a lot of Criterion's upgrade criteria--keystone film for the director, early spine number, outdated box artwork, recent restoration (per the rumor post), etc.

Does anyone have the Pickup DVD edition? Are the extras as listed on Criterion's website as skimpy as they seem?

I don't have the DVD, but Masters Of Cinema are releasing PICK UP on Blu-ray this Summer, with their disc derived from a new 4K transfer of the movie. I'd say it's definitely a likely candidate for future Criterion upgrade.

If you mean could they fit it on the bluray while porting the DVD extras over as well, I think so. There are 2 interviews w Fuller on it, one is about 20 min and the other shorter, and the rest is text based outside of the trailers. It's safe to assume it's coming as you're correct in that there's a 4k restoration being finished and a Masters of Cinema blu of that resto coming in August.

Excellent. Adding a South Street reissue to my mental schedule.

The Three Films by Hiroshi Teshigahara DVD set is not OOP. However, for some reason it cannot be ordered from the Criterion site. Here is a direct quote from their listing on Criterion.com:

Quote:
Unfortunately, we are not able to offer this product for sale on Criterion.com. Please note that it is not out of print and is available at other retailers, like Amazon.com.
So if B&N stocks it during their July sale, it should be half-off like it has been every Criterion sale.

EDIT: Took a look at B&N's website and no store within a reasonable distance of me has this. It has been available every B&N Criterion sale since I started collecting in 2010. Not looking good.
