Wonder if it'd be at all feasible for Criterion to release a boxset spead across a few or several Blu-rays of Harold Lloyd's one-reel or two-reel or whichever short films.
It seems they have been adding shorts to their regular releases, but I don't think that will be enough, Speedy supplements only list one short.

Maybe they can add the rest in the rumored Talkies Boxset, but that wouldn't make that much sense, since it is about his talkies, but who knows.

I've purchased 10 2015 releases, I have pre-ordered a handful or so more, and I also stocked up on some older releases. This has been a marvelous year for me as a CC fan, and it's difficult to see how some people would be disappointed by what the company's produced. I'm stoked to see what 2016 brings.

I'm def in for Downhill Racer & Burroughs.

Ill have to watch Jellyfish before I would buy, its either going to be amazing or absolutely dreadful. No middle ground.

Unfortunatly most movies that date back to the 20's are generally not films I need to own. I'm more of a mid/late 60's and 70's kind of person. Ive never seen Speedy though so you never know.

It's been said over and over that WB is not overly concerned with their back catalogue based on their output. My concern with Blu-ray sales down lately, the window is closing ever so slightly.

Glad the announcements were this afternoon, and not later. I would hate to stay up late to see another unremarkable line up.

Out of these titles only Downhill Racer has my interest. Not only for the beautiful ski set pieces, but because this was the film that Paramount chief Robert Evans used to lure Roman Polanski to the studio and make Rosemary's Baby I read somewhere that Polanski did some pre-production work on Downhill Racer but then either Paramount discharged him, or he left of his own accord.

So with December out of the way; I only purchased/pre-ordered one new Criterion blu-ray this year and that was Mulholland Drive. Night and The City was a great release, but I decided to wait out for the BFI version. Another year passes by and still no word on;
The Tenant which I hope Criterion get the rights and they will complete Polanski's urban paranoia trilogy (Repulsion and Rosemary's Baby are the other films)

And no word on blu-ray upgrades of Le Samourai which I bet is probably the most sought after Criterion title yet. And still no word on the upgrade for Knife in the Water

After Hours would be a real treat and I hope this comes true; it makes sense for Criterion to release one of Scorsese's overlooked films.

I am definitely picking up Downhill Racer. It's beautifully shot and allows Redford to be less than an idealized hero/good guy. I may give Harold Lloyd's Speedy a shot too, haven't seen it before.

Speedy for sure and Downhill Racer as well. Big Gene Hackman fan. I hated when he retired. He's one of those actors to me thats always fun to watch. Director also worked with Gene on another recent release Prime Cuts. I've been on the fence about that title (Any Recommendations here?) Though he also directed Fletch and its Sequel. So I come to Downhill Racer a little wary having never seen it before.

I'll get all four, but can't say any are day 1 purchases. That is sort of a relief because 2015 has been hard on the wallet. I've heard so much about the Before trilogy that I was hoping for that announcement.

"another" unremarkable line up? Roman Polanski isn't the only film maker out there, ya know? if you only picked up one title, you missed out on A LOT.

I can understand getting upset or even let down in some cases when you are eagerly anticipating your favorite title, but in a lot of cases when a lot of unknown titles are announced that I find even remotely interesting I bite. It excites me to move out of my comfort zone. As much as I love seeing my favorite films in HD like Le Samourai my best possible experiences have been popping in films I know nothing about and walking away feeling like I've just discovered my new favorite film. Then in a few years I can get upset when Criterion doesn't announce that title on UHD.

Actually I'm kind of glad Dec's announcement was small since I already have a ton of their titles on Preorder. Kwaiden alone was one of my most anticipated HD upgrades.

I'm sorta baffled by all the After Hours hype. I was expecting Inside Llewyn Davis, The New World, Midnight Cowboy, The Graduate, or Lady Snowblood. Not saying After Hours is a long shot but certainly longer than others.

Meh. Not a great month, to be sure. I'll upgrade Downhill Racer and get the Harold Lloyd but that's it.

I was thinking about the Wacky New Years 2015 cartoon, and then it struck me ... we've only had nine months worth of announcements since the cartoon was released, so we still have three months to go ...

Some of the films won't be in our hands until the 2016 calendar year, but in terms of the cartoon hints, the fat lady hasn't even come out on stage yet, much less begun to sing.

In terms of the films that actually had their street dates fall within the 2015 calendar year, I've picked up 23 of the 2015 releases so far, and have another 25 on my want list (I'm counting The Apu Trilogy as one release). Plus, Criterion gave me the Number One pick on my Dream List (the Night and the City upgrade featuring both the American and British versions) so I have absolutely no reason to complain whatsoever.

And that's my yippee-skippy Pollyanna-ish take on 2015.

Try the Kino Lorber Studio Classics thread, since they released it and where discussion on this film has occurred in the past few days. Short answer: get it.

I almost wish no one had ever said anything about the Before Trilogy potentially being released. I've checked every month for that release with muted hopes and every time I have been disappointed. It's my own fault but still.

If anyone from Criterion reads this thread.... I again would like to express my hopes for a Dardenne brothers box set. Discovered these guys this year and was blown away. Very hard to find their work too, at least where I am.
