I got my America Lost and Found: The BBS Story from B&N four months ago, along with Wild Strawberries and The Double Life of Veronique. They shipped the two Scanavo packaged movies in one box, and the BBS Story in a second shipment. I don't remember if there were any differences between the box types, but the BBS Story I received was well packaged, and in absolute pristine condition. Not even the slightest hint of crushing anywhere on the packaging. Earlier in the month, I ordered six movies from B&N, one of which was Mulholland Drive. It came packaged with Kiss Me Deadly, Anatomy of a Murder, and Rules of the Game. Again, I can't remember anything in particular about the box the movies were shipped in, but the packaging of Mulholland Drive was absolutely pristine.

I wouldn't hesitate to order a boxed set from them, based on my experience. Plus, based on what I've read here, B&N makes returning at the store pretty easy.

I have a chance to get Vampyr new at my local record store for about 12 bucks cheaper than B&N or Amazon. I was just wondering if there were any plans to release a blu-ray of this before I went and picked up this DVD? Thanks in advance.

Just ordered Sillivan's Travels ... and although it's horrifically embarrassing to admit this, it's a blind buy.

I'm really looking forward to Monday and its arrival. I've wanted to see it forever, and I'm an unapologetic Veronica Lake fan.

Is it the regular plastic case version, or the thick cardboard case version with the book?

Since they just re-released the dvd recently (removing the book), my guess is it isn't scheduled for upgrade anytime soon.

Thanks for the well detailed response. That makes me feel better about making an order from them using the 30% coupon before the weekend is over. I'm not sure which box set I'll get for sure yet from my list, but that's for me to decide later.

Who is Sillivan?

Anyways, don't feel too bad. It was a blind buy for me during the July sale. At the very least, it's always great to discover gems like those for the first time on Blu-ray.

LOL

"Sillivan" is what Sullivan is called when I haven't slept in nearly 2 days, and my typing skills go into the toilet.

Yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to finally seeing it. And it seems like a great package.

As you can tell by my avatar, I'm quite fond of Veronica Lake also. It's a fantastic movie and if you like Veronica Lake it's a no-brainer. I Married a Witch is perfect also.

On another subject, I would love to buy The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kamp during the sale, but I can't find it on the B&N website anywhere. I guess they're out of stock.

Damn Black Friday sales.

I haven't watched my copy of it yet actually since I still have several Criterions to watch from the last sale and this sale too, but it does seem like it is a good release overall from the review (other than maybe the PQ to an extent).

I probably will finally squeeze in a viewing of it soon though in between going through the Jacques Tati set I just bought earlier in the week.

I really like I Married a Witch as well. It might not be considered a classic by many, but I found it to be a lot of fun.

iScottie's right ... the first choice from your list should be The Vanishing. It's awesome. Personally, my second choice would be The Long Day Closes, but I'm only too willing to admit that it doesn't have quite so broad an appeal, and your mileage may vary wildly. My third choice would be one of the Fuller films, but here again, I'm a fan. I haven't watched my copy of The Tin Drum yet, but all the reviews I've read have been stellar.

Yeah, I think that I Married A Witch is very fun, very enjoyable movie. May have to watch that tonight, actually. It's been a while.

I agree about The Vanishing. I'd also recommend The Sword of Doom, Blind Chance, and Two Lane Blacktop. I hear good things about The Tin Drum, but haven't delved into it yet.

I absolutely despised The Tin Drum. Never have I been more annoyed with a character.
