oh, i wanted to ask why there weren't phantom pages for a 5th release.
hadn't thought that it could be an upgrade!
I'd hope then for one of these:

Magnificent obsession
Written on the wind
Summertime
The last Emperor (new 4k restoration)

But it is sloppy and has some amateurish mistakes. I've noticed one very poor edit in one of the early scenes where the teacher successfully tries to get imprisoned with his students yet in the next cut he is shown outside of the mini prison area.

What I remember about The King of Marvin Gardens the most is how it stands out in Jack Nicholson's filmography since he plays a very quiet and introverted character compared to most of his other roles.
I'd forgotten that basketball skills played a part in the choosing of the lead actor. I watched the extras about a year and a half ago. The basketball scenes in that are done expertly, that's for sure. Nicholson is very toned down in "Marvin Gardens". Kind of reminds me of Pacino's early performances before he entered his "Huaaaaaaahhhh", way over the top Pacino roles that started with "Scarface".

Amazon must know something. Boyhood has been ridiculously cheap of late. I think it was $4.99 at one point.

I'm curious as to why they're waiting on Pickup. It seemed 'A Fuller Life' was being talked about months ago as an extra, as well as Fuller's daughter having a phantom page pop up seemingly in relation to her doc. I can tell from my MoC blu ray (that looks marvelous) that the restoration of Pickup is ready to go, so I wonder what gives?

At least they had the courtesy of letting us know instead of making us wait all day and not end up coming. But people still going to complain.

I just ordered the 2nd Hiroshi Shimizu dvd set from Japan, so if a 2nd eclipse set of his films is announced tomorrow, you're welcome.

Of course I doubt that happens. Something tells me the first Shimizu eclipse set isn't a big seller.

I doubt the Silent Naruse set was either. That's a decision that still baffles myself.

If the phantom pages are any indication, then nothing quickens my pulse so far.

This is not necessarily a bad thing.

These days, with my still-unwatched stack of Blu-rays and with the upcoming announcements from the likes of Kino Lorber or Arrow, I'm always oddly relieved when monthly announcements for any given studio do not feature anything that intrigues me.

Only marginally related, but I just bought a December 26 ticket to the 70mm Roadshow of Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight. I'm pretty fired up about that.

Does anyone know if Burroughs: The Movie will be available to stream on Amazon, Hulu, iTunes, Netflix, or some other website?
