I never imagined that people would want to collect these things. I guess I should have have saved them and put them on eBay instead of immediately throwing them out.

I peel 'em carefully, open the wrap, and then stick 'em on the case in a place that I see fit...

Very important it is...weird, I am...(Sorry for the Yoda inspired sentences, I watched Empire Strikes Back yesterday)

All of mine go into the garbage, but one man's trash is another man's treasure, I guess.

Truth be known, most of my Ultraviolet digital code leaflets for Blu-rays from Universal and other such studios also go straight to the trash. I really should set up an account here to sell them, but I just never seem to want to hassle with that.

I purchased a lot of early ones as used like new so no stickers, and a lot of new copies don't have stickers so it was never a thought for me. I've probably thrown out 250 of them.

I might have saved the Chris Marker one because he's awesome.

The MoC blu is worth springing for, it looks stellar. This is definitely a film that I could never go back and watch a DVD of, the colours and look of it in HD are quite the upgrade. Love this flick.

I personally can't stand most of his work, especially the newer stuff. The only film of his I could honestly sit through again is I Heart Huckabees, and that's mainly for the acting and script. The Fighter is probably runner up, but I have no desire to watch it again.

My feelings toward his work are similar to my feelings toward Alexander Payne, which is that outside of one or two films (Sideways mainly) I find them full of tripe and a slog to sit through.

The American Friend & Bitter Rice are the must haves for me, actually cannot wait to get my hands on them. Gilda I can wait for as it seems the transfer is identical to the disc I've had for nearly 2 years and I'm mainly buying it for the commentary and interview.

I've never even thought of doing that. Now I have regret for just throwing mine away lol

I watched Late Spring last night.

Beautiful story.

Starts out a little slow, a little underwhelming imo, but the magic of Ozu kind of creeps up your spine over the course of the two hours.

I think I like it better than Tokyo Story.

Really sad that the print is in such horrendous condition.

I thought Ikiru had some serious PQ flaws, but there are several scenes in Late Spring that make Ikiru look like Avatar.

I'm sure Criterion did the best they could to clean it up considering the source material they were working with.

...still a shame that someone didn't take better care of the negatives or whatever it was Criterion made the transfer from.

Also watched about 30 minutes of Odd Man Out before packing it in for the night.

Every time James Mason spoke all I could think about was the fat, creepy serial killer from True Detective.

...is that weird?

Late Spring has a newer 4K restoration available since the Criterion blu was released.

Have you seen it?

...were they able to remove some of the white lines and other damage?

I love Alexander Payne. David O. Russell... not so much.

There's no difference. If the director is alive and worked with Criterion on the release, then it will have the signature sticker. I believe that Terrence Malick's films just say "Director Approved Edition" or something like that - no signature.

Other blu-rays just have the standard blue sticker.

I also remove the sticker and carefully apply it to the case. I've bought 'like new' and have also bought new ones that didn't have stickers. Oh well. All of my blus from living directors with the signature sticker have the sticker - luckily enough.

I tossed a lot of mine, but now save them and send them to a member on here. If I had started from the beginning, then I may have kept them for myself. I think it is cool that people collect these as well.

One thing I finally started doing is only cutting my plastic enough to get out the films on digipaks. That extra plastic may help the packaging from getting scuffed with normal shelf wear. Plus, its an extra selling point on eBay. So if they include stickers I'll still have those on sets going forward.

I'm holding off on Late Spring until either...
a) CC re-releases w/ the new restoration
b) the Japanese edition becomes more affordable or
c) it is released in the UK by either BFI or MoC

I have it but I haven't had a chance to watch out yet. Maybe over the holidays?

Of course I never thought the Criterion looked bad, so maybe I'm not the best judge.
