I've seen it and I'm in Ohio.

This is the first Criterion release I've seen that was put out early. I remembering reading that other members have found titles out early before, so I think it just depends on the title/store. Sometimes a title will slip through and other times it won't.

So what's the damage from the B&N sale for you guys? Mine was $150 for 7 Criterion Blu's. I stayed far more restrained that expected.

I was looking at the mubi.com forums of people's purchases and this is probably the most I have seen anyone purchase, Hal Croves who spent around $3,000 on this current sale.

For $3000 I would have built my own home theater with a 1080p projector and a 100+" screen.

Hehe...A few people told me that when I spent a lot last November. But you know...at the time, I was thinking "these sales are rare, get it now while you can". But it all comes down to one's priorities and if you got the money to burn.

I'm glad this sale is finally over so I can let my bank account recover from this sale. I picked up 14 titles during this sale. Now to wait until the next one

Actually, that phrase is probably heard quite often in Hollywood.

Yojimbo

Do you like Samurais or Cowboys? Better yet do you like Originals or Remakes?

First off i would like to say what an amazing movie this was. I dont know why i was so ignorant to not watch black and white films. This Criterion Release was treated amazingly good, I could never imagine a black and white film with no grain and hardly and distortion.

About the film, Perfectly acted and a good story but its sad how so many people love "Fistful of Dollars" and haven't viewed the original. With that said "Fistful of Dollars" either a complete rip off of Yojimbo or its just honoring its Originality
[Show spoiler]either case it kinda killed me how so many parts where performed and re-scripted verbatim

Once again the Criterion Release is superb, Classic action filled with the same suspense you see in modern film making but i little bit better. A film like this is a Highly Recommended film and im proud i purchased it.

4.5/5

I think there is also something to be said for having great HD films to watch on our great HD setups.

I could have bought a fancy new subwoofer but I think for now I'll get more enjoyment out of the 13 amazing films I added to my library.

I would've done the same, too.

I've never understood why these guys posts thousands of dollars worth of dvd's online to showoff (You don't see me acting like a big shot and posting my three sealed Third Man Criterion Blu-rays or my three sealed Pierrot le fou Criterion Blu-rays ).

Chances are he probably hasn't seen 25% of those films.

I already had all the Blu's released, so for this sale I mainly picked up DVD's:
Blu:
Secret of the Grain
Black Narcissus
The Red Shoes

DVD:
Rossellini War Trilogy
A Woman is a Woman
Battle of Algiers
My Own Private Idaho
Mala Noche
Homicide
House of Games
White Dog
The Night Porter
Milky Way
That Obscure Object of Desire
Paddle To Sea
Red Balloon
White Mane
Short Cuts
Two-Lane Blacktop
Science is Fiction
The Friends of Eddie Coyle
Night And Fog
Diary of a Chambermaid
In The Mood for Love
Man Bites Dog
Touchez Pas Au Grisbi
Hoop Dreams

24 DVD, 3 Blu's, total damage around 4-500. Glad the sale is over, the wallet is sweating the next sale. No more for me for a while, I need to watch all of these before I buy anything else (at least that's what I'm telling myself!)

I spent about $800 but technically only $400 or so was on Criterion titles in the sale.... the rest just happened to be spent at B&N during the sale.....

If you're looking to off-load one of those Pierrot blus, lemme know--I was going to buy it from the Criterion site for $28.

It's about Criterion Collection love. You'll probably see this more with Criterion, Eureka/MoC and other niche companies and maybe also the steelbook owners. And it also makes our nipples hard.
