Did anyone ever post the picture of what looked like the Coen brothers and Barry Sonnenfeld recording a commentary track?

Days of Heaven
Secret of the Grain
Revanche
Certified Copy
Close-Up
Kiss Me Deadly
Kuroneko
Complete Monterey Pop Festival
Leon Morin, Priest
Last Year at Marienbad

That's a really interesting list.

I saw Close-Up for the first time a couple of weeks ago on TCM.

I thought it was pretty good, but not a film that I felt compelled to see more than once.

Kiss Me Deadly is on my list for July.

What is it about Letter Never Sent that made it expendable for you?

...if you don't mind my asking.

It's been a while since I viewed it so it's not fresh on my mind. I'm just not itching to see it again any time soon.

Just watched the In A Lonely Place. I was already a great fan of the film, and this is the best I've seen it look outside of the theatre. Beautiful presentation. I'm A Stranger Here Myself is a corker of an extra too.

Can barely wait until the upcoming sell to FINALLY add that title to my collection. Have almost caved several times and just bought the thing at retail.

Retail? Dun dun dun...

I used to buy at retail before I found the B&N sales. Now I can justify purchases more.

Waiting to buy in the sales doesn't suit my viewing habits. The idea of buying in bulk twice a year just doesn't work for me.

I watched it after Blind Chance and preferred BC because it was a real soaker as far as provoking thought on fate/chance.
Somehow I need to temper my expectations on films. I finished Three Colors: Red last night and I was somewhat disappointed. Based upon everyone's reviews I expected it to be on par with Blue or even exceed it, however it fell short for me both in visual and story expectations. Whereas Blue captured me from the opening credits, Red left me waiting for the gut punch that never came.

I plan on an immediate re-watch to determine if unreasonable expectations hampered my viewing or if I simply did not connect for whatever reason with the film. 8/10

I mentioned it already but I'm rather looking fwd to the Wenders box set. The two films of his that Ive seen have been very enjoyable. The most recent CC release I have is The American Friend, so I have some catching up to do, (so to say.)

I plan on getting the following:

Bicycle Thieves
A Brighter Summer Day
Only Angels Have Wings
In a Lonely Place
Wim Wenders Road Trilogy

I'd have picked up a few of these, but I just haven't come across the deals that I have become accustomed to, so B & N it is.

I know that Adam has film as part of his profession. I'd imagine that for many of the rest of us, we've got a sufficient number of films in our unwatched stack to hold us over.

I'm struggling trying to wait until July for the May and June titles even though I have two years worth of unwatched titles to view. I may give in and pick up In a Lonely Place for $27 on Amazon. I honestly do not care one bit for Whit Stillman's films, but I'm too OCD with my collecting so I'm getting the new box set during the B&N sale. I'm so dumb.

It's true, I do keep my stack down pretty well. At the moment there are only four films in it, but one of those is the MoC Man With A Movie Camera box-set and another is 1900, which is too long an undertaking to throw on without consideration. I can't see wither of those being watched until I get some serious time off to be honest! Miguel Gomes' Arabian Nights trilogy is also on my pile, which is itself a seriously long piece of work, but I'm going to plough on with that on my next few evening's off.

I've got the Wenders set on order at a decent price on amazon. I could hold out for the sale with that one, due to the release date being so near to the sale, but for me the B+N sale has been nothing but trouble, so I'd rather take my business elsewhere, even if it does mean paying a bit of a premium. I'm happy to pay that for amazon's superior customer service and shipping speed.

Exactly. Also, dare I say it, there are other labels putting out great blu rays. So in a month when I'm not buying Criterions, I can spend that money on other worthy films. So many blu rays, so little time.

Of course there are always certain films that I can't wait for. McCabe will be one of those.

edit: Of course, unless it's a must-have film (see McCabe), there's a good probability that any Criterion I buy today will sit on my unwatched pile until the next sale anyway, so why not wait?

Wont Criterion just sell you the box? Hell, for the right price I'm sure someone on these boards will let you have theirs!

I read the phrase "Amazon's superior customer service" and almost choked on my tea. Thanks a lot Adam!

B & N Sale for Box set - $80 MSRP x 50% - 10% member discount = $36 (before coupons)
LESS eBay proceeds of selling Metropolitan and Last Days of Disco = $24
So...I can get Barcelona and the slip for around $12.

If I buy Barcelona individually plus somehow buy the slip, then I would have more than $25 all in.

It's economics...I have to buy the box set.

Ha! I'll be doing the same. We should try and coordinate our eBay sales so as not to compete with one another!

Haven't been around in ages so please forgive me. Is it August that Criterion usually has their big sale? I have hardly bought a film in a couple of years and I am in the process of thinning out my regular DVD and BR collection with hopes of playing catch up on some Criterion titles.
Thanks in advance.

Thank You.
Would you happen to know if B&N ship to Canada?
