I know people usually get bent out of shape about it, but it's true that it's very early and it's only speculation now so I guess it's okay to discuss without tags

Also: Criterion release of Home Alone confirmed!

IIRC, the Apu Trilogy was released late on during a sale and you could only get it at 50% from the day of release.

Jack Arnold and John Hughes added. Brando, Marlon still up, too.

Mulvaney is trolling.

A Howard Hughes movie that seems like a nice fit for Criterion is His Kind of Woman. Sounds like a good (enough) noir, and it's a Warner title.

September will be a good month as long as they at least announce The Squid And The Whale this week.

Criterion usually keeps the People numbering together for a film. They're now adding different directors for each new number.

I think that we should try something a little different here in this Criterion thread for the next batch of announcements.

This time around, it might be sort of fun if we just wait until the announcements are actually posted and enjoy the surprise instead of scouting around the phantom pages and such.

Y'all can tell that I'm a 1980s kid, I guess. I miss those days when I had no idea that a new movie or a new album from my favorite band was scheduled for release. I'd be browsing around in a record store, and I'd be overjoyed at the sight of a new Cure album, a new Smiths album, or a new New Order album on the shelf.
"Whoa! I never saw that coming! Cool!"

I Wanna Hold Your Hand perhaps? He was trying to get Twilight Time to release it after they released Used Cars. But Universal would not license to them. Maybe he worked with Criterion to release it.

I cannot think of anything of John Hughes that would be Criterion material. Jack Arnold, could be Man in the Shadow perhaps.

They're considered classics!
Also there is an upcoming complete soundtrack release of the first one from La-laland and it's its anniversary this year.

The Incredible Shrinking Man maybe? don't know if it is a classic but it would be in line with other Criterion sci-fi titles.

I'm all for that too.

It's possible the only solution is avoiding this thread the week of the announcements and then come back after you discover the new releases on Criterion.com. That would also mean clicking through dozens of pages of posts to get caught up with.

Maybe create another thread about pre-release and phantom pages talk?
Although maybe it gets complex in the end, with people posting in both threads.

I enjoy the films, but I do not think they are Criterion material.
