This would be an interesting Criterion debut for both Vincente Minnelli and Streisand. Seems more like a Twilight Time-esque title, though.

They also probably see it as important work in contemporary film. If they do release it, that is probably their reason to like with Boyhood.

I thought I'd read some time ago that Tree Of Life was released to Malick's satisfaction.Can't really imagine it being much longer and with the exception of The New World he's not known for doing alternate cuts of his films.

The Thin Red Line in its hours long version before he cut the guts out of it would have been great, but he only approved the theatrical cut for release.

As a Malick die hard, a 6-hour Tree of Life release would be akin to a fully restored Greed or Magnificent Ambersons. There's no telling what kind of trouble I'll get into while celebrating.
