Going to have to disagree, I really didn't like this one.

Water is good but IMHO Earth > Water.

Oh I dislike Deepa Mehta's films. From her Elements Trilogy, Fire was campy and so broad-sided it made absolute caricatures of the characters. Earth was okay, but suffered from some weak writing and casting, and a muddled score (except for the robustly performed song Rut Aa Gayi Re). Water I didn't bother to see, since by then Deepa was anathema to me and the cast was headlined by mannequins more famous for their modeling appearances than any acting talent.
I'd also seen her Bollywood / Hollywood at the cinema, an experience so excreable it had me swearing at the screen (and in the process getting into a tiff with another person that was lapping it up like divine manna).

Bandit Queen is a fine film, brutal and unflinching in its depiction of cruelty and caste-gender based oppression, if also rather Bollywood-y in the writing of its rape and revenge saga.

WKW's Happy Together was added to FilmStruck with Criterion's branding.

I don't know who has the rights to it or even how good it would look on BD but I sure would like to see Michael Nesmith's Elephant Parts in the CC. A template for music videos that would soon make songs a audio/video experience and be the fuel that powered MTV. (Man, I miss those days when MTV and VH1 were actually about music. Anyway, Nesmith is already in the Criterion Collection as a Monkee in Head and as a producer on Repo Man.

Perfect. I hope this further adds to the rumors of WKW's entire catalogue coming.

Ha ha! Yes - the completely unnecessary sub-plot.

With his one-shot TV follow-up, Television Parts as a bonus!

I don't think that'll happen. I imagine that the rights are still with the rotting corpse of the Weinstein Company. Janus/Criterion most likely only has the following: Chungking Express, Ashes of Time, Fallen Angels, Happy Together, and In the Mood for Love.

That probably is still with Sony. But, even if it is, Criterion could license it from them.

Kino had the rights to Days of Being Wild and As Tears Go By, no? If so, they're with Criterion now.

Kind of a random question, but does anyone know if there's an upgrade planned for Masculine Féminin, Brute Force, and Au Hasard Balthazar? I hope something is in the works for all three.

The Seventh Seal is a film for the ages and one of my favorite movies. Here in this scene, left to right:
[Show spoiler] one is accepting of her fate, one still prays for hope, one rejoices with tears, and the last still skeptic though he sees.

For someone who has never seen Blow Out, would you recommend getting the arrow release over the Criterion? How do they compare?
Hmv is doing a 3/5 for £20?30 on arrow titles at the moment so works out at just £6
